I've been searching for a new guitar for awhile now, but it will be awhile before I can afford one.

In the meantime I was wondering if anyone here wanted to post clips of their acoustics and possibly state the recording chain you used.

The shop I went to only had budget guitars and then a room full of Taylors. A lot of the Taylors sounded nice...some not so nice. There weren't any Martins there or any other high-end guitars so I haven't been able to try those out yet.

Some of the "budget" guitars sounded pretty good but they weren't a huge step up from what I'm playing now.

I've heard a lot of recordings with really nice acoustic guitar sounds and always wondered what guitar was used, and what kind of signal chain was used for recording it. I've also noticed a few posts of people wondering the same thing, so I thought it would be cool to have a thread just for this.

So if you want to post some clips I'd love to hear them! :)

And if you can post your signal chain/recording environment that would be :cool:

No one? :(

I have a couple of songs on the SoundClick link in my signature if you want to hear it.

They were both recorded like:

Cort Acoustic Guitar -> One Behringer ECM8000 -> DMP3 -> Audiophile 2496 -> Reaper

Hopefully someone else will post some clips of theirs. :)

I'm using a Taylor 710, but I'm going to start looking for a newer acoustic guitar soon also. Recording chain is two MXL V67, Delta 66 Omni into a old Logic program on a Dell computer. But I've upgraded recently to Sonar 6. Just haven't recorded any acoustic guitar with it yet.

You're getting pretty good tone with your current setup, from what I heard in the mixing forum.

Smokely T Pukebreath

My wifes Simon And Patrick, recorded with 2 Nady mics, a small pencil one, and a larger one, into a DMP3, into a Delta 44 soundcard. This took about 9 months to put together. :o

Rust Revisited is my beat up 1969 Red Label Yamaha FG-150. 3 mic's blended together, 2- Oktava mk-012's> my Tascam tm d-1000 with a little compression, and 1 SP B1 through my JoeMeek VC1Q.

I'll post a picture of the guitar in a bit, but it ain't much to look at, although it does have a cool Converse sticker on it. :)

Wow that sounds real nice. I listened to "The Road From Dublin". Sounds like you have a real nice guitar and also great playing skills. :cool:

Nice song, guitar sounds cool. Sounds like you got a nice effect by miking with 3 mics. I'd be interested in trying that. :cool:
