Acoustic foam

So how much does this stuff cost? (in square meters or square feet for those who dont know metric). Are there cheaper versions that are worth the money? How much do you need? Do you have to cover your whole room or will a bit do if you have your'e room sound proofed with something cheaper? Is it effective to glue acoustic foam to a board as a semi permanant sound room thingy? (excuse my technical launguage or spelling errors, its late)

Musician's friend has studio foam for $199.99 for 96 sq. ft. But I'll tell ya what I tried. I went to walmart and bought the bed foam eggcrate type stuff, cut it down to 11 inch strips and went along the wall where it meets the ceiling and also down the corners. My room is 15'-4" x 23'-0". It cost me $63.00. I think it was well worth the investment as now I can even turn up the volume more, it has cut a bunch of the rooms echo I had and now everything even sounds cleaner.
