Hey,

Hopefully some of you will get a kick out of this. It is my minimalistic acoustic version of one of their lesser known tunes, 'a national acrobat'. I recorded it last night in my den/'studio'.

My fear is that, for fans of Black Sabbath, this is not faithful enough to the original, while for non fans, it may be too faithful. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Pete

Not bad, actually sounds pretty good. the intro made me belive you made it into a faggy reggae song, thanks god you haven't. Humanize the drums, or get real ones.

Other than that Good Job!

i'm a huge sabbath fan, and i very much enjoyed it.
Less is more

yes, it's niice

that sounds great
will you do a cover of another
sabbath, bloody sabbath tune,
"spiral architect"

aimee mann cover

hey, listening to
'wise up' now
i like it
this and the sabbath song
have a lazy, laid back approach
(in a good way, sort of like liz phair's delivery)

lying in a field watching clouds pass by
nothing in the periphery, just endless blue sky

that's how i feel listening to your 'coustic tunes

thanks!

Thanks for listening and thanks for the kind words.

As for the drums, I did play them myself (not programmed or sequenced), but all I have is this:

yamaha dd20s

Basically a $50 toy. I ran it through a guitar effect pedal and added compression, EQ & reverb and also used the EQ on my mixer to try to get a more natural tone, but there is still a very rapid decay to the sound. Sadly, real drums are not an option right now.

I think the cymbals in particular are too digital sounding. I wonder if I were to substitute a shaker if that would mask some of the fakeness of the drums?

I have an old 4-track version of spiral architect which ironically is a "faggy reggae" version (as Polska would say). I won't subject you folks to that. Perhaps I will re-record it some time. There are a lot of great tracks from that album.
