he took it down already Mike,

:D

Mike-

It's a very personal, unproduced tune and really doesn't belong on the board for critique. It's just mind-flow kinda expression sort of stuff...

I've put it under my site on NWR under albums- "Jams, Improvs, Slop" if you really want to hear it. :)

Cheers,
Tom

Cool man,
...the jam, where all good ideas are born.:) This kinda stuff is alot of fun to record. ....you get a chance to try out new things and experiment a little. Do you find that you write lyrics before music alot? ...just curious. Cool stuff tom, thanks for giving me a listen.

Mike, I think I sent a PM to you, but the site's acting weird so I'm copying most of it here cuz I don't think it sent....I didn't want to bump the thread but it's at the top anyway....

Most of the time a little phrase comes crawling out of the back of my head and immediately attaches itself to a melody, like a white blood cell to a virus. And if it's a strong enough idea, the rest comes very fast. The great thing about home recording, I find, is you get to try things out and hear them back immediately, and eventually the more you do it, the more you know already if it's going to work. The rest is just making it work, the endless tug-of-war between ideas, and directions, and rhythms and melodies...

If you're just writing formulaic radio music, it's already done for you, really. But if you're hearing something different, and you want to materialize it, it's a huge challenge. You have to put the rules aside and take some risks.

But it starts with the brainstorm...and with me the initial idea, is usually inspired by something negative I'm trying to overcome or just understand.

So my lyrics are usually troubled but hopeful.

(Not that you need to hear that stuff from me...you make some pretty fucking amazing music, and I mean that.)

Hat's off, man. Mine are usually just troubled.

Listened to this for about 50 spins yesterday. I hope you don't think I'm kissing up, lol...it's just that the constant loop factor tune doesn't happen for me every day...

...although, I have to say it's becoming more common.

anyway, nice work

Tom;

I like everything about this tune. Lyrics, Geetar work, Singing. Being an almost total ecetric guitarst, it amazes me that people can pull stuff like this off with one Guitar and one Vox.

Nice work Bro!!! Thanks for sharing!

Blessings!!!

hmmm.. where did the file go Batman? :)

kgirl still hasnt contacted on the kansas tune ... so it might be an instrumental after all :-/

I wonder what acoustic your gonna get?

a martin or taylor .. hmmmmm?

Heard this last night Tom... sorry... just getting a chance to word-ificate on it

Your voice is sounding like Tom of old (well... Tom of a few months ago)... more of that high-throat tone.

Good metaphoric lyrics. This song proves you're one talented moe. The talent for coming up w/melodies is most impressive, and the talent for lyrics comes right after.

This is around the campfire in the thick, lodgepole pine woods on pitch black night stuff. Sit on a rock and belt that out while the rest of us drunks tip back some Miller Lite. All of your stuff evokes images --maybe not the ones you expect-- but it's still the mark of quality.
