Hey all, I am attempting to use Acid 3.0 as my drum sequencer.
1. I am curious if anyone here may know of a few websites that provied hints, tips, and tutorials (big plus) for using Acid 3.0. I have been too SonicFoundry.com, and AcidFanatic.com
2. I would like you guys to listen to this little drum track I made with ACID and would like your advice. I am trying to make it sound as life-like as I possibly can. Panning, Volumes, ANYTHING that would help would be great.
Just so you know my "genre" is rock, acoustic rock, heavy rock, etc....
Sounds very much like a drum machine. It will take you a little time. It helps to have palyed or be familiar with playing drums, but your whole loop sounds like a Drum machine preset loop. Instead of searching the web for Free Samples, save up about 50 bucks and go buy the following two Sonic Foundry Titles:
(1) Drum Tools.
(2) Universal Groove Elements.
They will give you a better foundation of what to start with. Also, take a lsiten to sime of the music you like and concentrate on the drums. Be sure that things like the hi-hat vary frequently. Somethig that I often do when creating in ACID is find a nice Hi-Hat loop that I like (not a one shot) that I can lay down as a foundation. Then I create from scratch. Also, the snare sound you are using is not the best. The two fills that you have created can be replaced by a couple of fills from real drummers who no how to switch things up, until you get used to how things swing. Thanks for the post. An don't feel bad, Some of my first Drum machine tracks were far worse.
I posted a link below of a track that I created from Scratch with primarily one shots. The Hi-hat for most of the song was compsed of a few different loops that I liked. Some of the fills were loops, though many of them were created from scratch. I have posted this before when it was in creation, but here is the link:
Yeah I pretty much knew that it sounded like a drum machine, JUST like a drum machine preset loop. Although I did attempt to model it from Wheatus, "Teenage Dirt Bag". I actually think I came rather close except for the fills and what not. I have never played drums (except for once or twice) and I don't know anyone that plays drums so I am really in the dark on this.
Oh yeah, these one-shots ARE from the Drum Tools CD.
About your drum-track....man if I can come half as close as that I would be happy.
I appreciate it. I know that you will be able to create just as good ones with some time. I have been programming drum machines and the like for many years. Once you get a feel for it, you will smoke. I did like how you kept it simple.
