Any suggestions on accoustics around and above drums? Have ended up with a 10x20 room.

you may have a Modal Stacking problem since the length is a multiple of the width. first look at your frequencies below ~250hz. you may need a bass trap.

if you have an 8ft ceiling then the 8ft and 10ft dimensions are similar.

i'd look at the low end first.

next i'd look at the reverb time and try to even it out at around .3 to .6 sec.

Can you guys elaborate for the "less cranial inclined"?
What are you using that calculates your findings?

This thread bit the dust a couple weeks ago, but some elaboration would sure be appreciated.

getuhgrip,

do you have Microsoft Excel. i've got a Spreadsheet that'll calculate room modes and Quadratic Residue Diffusor dimensions.

i'll send it to you. let me know...

hey getuhgrip,

check your Email. let me know if you got it...

sonix why do you just upload it using the bbs thing? (that is if you don't mind giving it out to people without them asking for it) :)

i can do that. actually i like to know who's using my software and stuff. if you download this and find it useful, send me an Email and if i decide to update the Spreadsheet or DrDx i'll send you a new version.

here's the note that i've sent others:

here's the Acoustic Excel speadsheet. there's two part's 1) a Quadratic Residue Diffusor Calculator and 2) a Room Mode Calculator. i hope you find it useful.

also, i've included DrDx which is a program i've written that will help you manage your DirectX Plugins (if you use DirectX and if you use a DAW). with DrDx you can Disable/Enable plugins and see in which file the plugin is located. note the listed Email address in DrDx is wrong. it's now Sonixx@bellsouth.net. i haven't gotten around to changing it.

regards,

My spreadsheet says that a couple hundred bucks worth of foam may have "tamed" my little 12X12 studio.
I'm building a new house next year and I'm learning that vocal and drum booths aren't just a bunch of hype. Plus I won't have to worry about a 12hp fan in my computer! :D
