techno/trance ? Go Nova! (you mean the laptop synth, right?)... it's got a way, way more comprehensive modulation matrix and it's crazy ass fat!
imagine this: 6 saws, 3 independant sync oscillators, a noise generator and 2 independant ring mods
per voice!! ... that's... 11 oscillators per voice.. times 16 voices.. that's 176... now imagine a quad chorus put on top of that (that's 4 chorus' in different phase at one time) ... and that's just the basic fun stuff you can wonder about...
getting deeper is the comb filter, which is like a polyphonic flager (and really mean and nasty)... it's modulable by an lfo and can create sounds the virus can only dream about...
add to that 16 different reverb types, a different one for each part.... (i LOVE the gated reversed, you can make some killer weird sounds) a different delay, distortion, eq, chorus/flanger/phaser/quadchorus, pan, autopan, comb filter and shit, each different for each part.. (read. huge effects capabillities)
it's got extra stuff like the sync skew (which i
love) and
the formant effect... 2 filters per voice... endless modulation (you will
not believe how fat and evil a sound can get when you modulate the sync oscillators by some fast lfos... DAIIYUMMM!!)
.. argh.. i could keep on going...
the preset sounds on the nova aren't very good, but i can send you sum of my own if you get one... there's everything from the smooth sasha "expander" sound to the Crystal Blue "Step Back" evil motherfucker synth wreckeage... and some seriously wicked bass sounds too...
oh.. did i mention the 40 band vocoder??? ... just think about it

... 40 bands
and note... when access say 82 effects, they include ringmod and vocoder and shit like that... the nova got 42 effects not counting all that...
anything else??... oh.. the retro phaser on the access is cool (but not as cool as the comb filter on the nova) and the filters are also great... but other than that, i'd pick the nova any day...
