Hi there,
I'm really new to the MIDI world. I'm using PT free and I have a demo of Native Insturment's Absyth. I am able to record into PT using insturment tracks and I can overdub along to what I've recorded with Absynth using a MIDI track. Then, as long as I have Absyth open and the right Keyboard voice I can hear what I've done and it's all tickity boo............until I try to bounce to disc in .aiff or .wav. I loose the MIDI track. Can anyone tell me why and what I need to do?
Cheers,

What version of Absynth?

If I recall right, version 1 and 2 you need to have the engine open so make sure of that
and after you edit the preset ( I'm assuming you are using one) you have to save it, in order to hear the changes ( and record it)

Edit: Oh I missed you are using the demo version
Maybe its because of that

Heh?

Yes

PT Free has instrument tracks?

Regardless, you should be able to bounce the midi to an audio track by bussing the output to a record enabled track's input.

p.s. Yeah ProTools free is awesome. It has inst and midi tracks as well. I was using LE in a studio and stumbled on an link to the free demo. How do you argue with free? I've heard that it's incompatible with many computer operating systems though. If this works I'm a happy camper.
Peace,

well...that didn't work

Does anyone know for sure if you can actually bounce midi out of PT (free). It doesn't seem to want to work and in fact I can't seem to insert into an audio track either. I just can't afford ProTools right now....grrrrrrrr.

first tell me where this link is to get the free version with instrument tracks. Because they didn't add instrument tracks until version 7.0
And the Pro Tools Free version was a watered down version of something like 4.x

Are you trying to export to a MIDI file? Should be File-->Export Midi, but that's only if it's available in PT free....I don't know if it is. To print to an audio track you just need to reroute the track that has your synth insert on it to an open audio track.
