Hi everyone. I belong in an Experimental Metal Band. Thing is, I want to 'produce' some 'demos' of my band. I own a Line 6 Pod X3 Live and hope to use it as my interface. Also I own a PC with core i3 proccessor and 4 GB of RAM. I own Reaper and plan to use it as my DAW.
My question is, I would like to record, mix and master my band's songs and am a total noob in this area. All I know is how to create drum tracks in Reaper.. :P
So, could someone here give me a detailed explanation of the whole process involved in recording and producing my band's demo? As in what should be the steps involved in recording, mixing and mastering the track. Now I'm not looking for absolute studio quality..but a decent quality...with good clarity in all the instruments involved..
Other softwares/vsti I got:
Izotope Ozone
EzDrummer Drumkit from Hell, Metalheads Expansion.

Gordon Bennett !
That is a request so wide and expansive, you could fit a volcano, several icebergs and the land mass of Canada in there ! And a few polar bears for good measure.
Truth be told, many people have written books on this very subject. It's an extremely difficult thing to condense it into a forum post for someone who is totally at the start stage to grasp, with all the nuances that are a vital part of recording.
What I can say, however, is that this is, despite some of the madness that abounds from time to time, a really valuable and useful resource. Most of your process can be found within the millions of threads here. It might be better for you to break your request down into separate parts such as "Initial tracking", "Recording drums", "The mix" etc. Each of these and more {much, much more} are big questions in themselves before you even get to mastering........
Sorry if that seems discouraging. You'll feel different in 6 months.

Agree with the above, this is a forum, not a classroom. The internet is full of knowledge, go teach yourself. And then if you get stuck or want advice on specific areas, come back and people here will be glad to help.

You need to read bruv! books, magazines, the internet, the back of cornflakes boxes! :)

Check out youtube, lots of lessons on everything there.

Read teh sticky threads at the top of this forum section - intro to multitrack and NOOBs

Hey..thanks to all the people who replied and opened my eyes about the whole thing.. :facepalm:Could someone atleast give me a basic guideline on atleast what all I should be learning?? Would be even better if someone would gimme some links....
Now, as I said before.. I'm not looking for pro level stuffs..just things basic enough to get some demos done...

Seriously, no. It's all documented in books, stickys on this site, everywhere.
There are entire websites devoted to your question. Google tweaks guides.

No one is gonna rewrite all this stuff for you.

First of all: Hi and welcome! We are pretty much in the same boat, as I am also mainly figuring out how to record quality demos. After reading the FAQs you will without a doubt have lots of questions, and in my experience for every answer there's three more questions. So my advice is take it step by step. I have only just begun my trip the sacred (and more complicated than I thought) lair of home recording myself and will follow your threads fanatically as I try to do with, well, this whole forum (addiction warning!).
