I'm about to charge it and I have a few questions. I see that Sonar has a built in compressor. Can this be used while recording a track (ie. vocals) or can you only compress after the track is recorded? Also, I'm looking to make my purchase from Musician's Friend and the price is $299.99. This appears to be the price everywhere I've looked. Does anyone have a line on a lower price somewhere? I'm fairly well versed with Pro audio 9, will this be a big change or are there similarities? Those are just a few questions, I'll probably flood this board once I've installed it.

Thanks,
Bill

No software can actually compress the input signal during recording, that needs to be done afterwards. :(

I won't comment the prices available in the US... ;)

And if you're familiar with PA9, it won't be long untill you got the hang of Sonar. And we'll be here to help when/if you meet problems.

:)

If you're a student you can get a decent price at www.acedemicsuperstore.com
I think you can get 2.2XL for like $280. Plain ol 2.2 is probably under $220. Worth a look if you're still shopping.

actually, doesn't Cakewalk offer a lower price for PA owners who upgrade? Might check their website.

Just checked, upgrade from PA9 to Sonar 2.2 will cost you $149... :)

Thanks guys. I'll be checking back in once I'm up and running.

Moskus actually lives here. :D
That's why I've named my self "The Official Cakewalk Forum Spammer". :D

Only that I had no room for "Official" and "Forum" (actually the word "Forum" was replaced with ***** for whatever reason...)
