About Shure sm58 LC

Hello there .

I Came here to ask ya a couple of questions :P

1st of all i bought the microphone called Shure sm58 , since i've been told by few friends that already own it that its great.

the music i want to record with it its Rap/Hip-Hop .

what i bought with it its the USB Cable that connects with PC .

and now i am thinking about to buy a sound card or whatever its called so i can control the sounds etc with it.


Since the forum has many experienced microphone users i would like to get recommended by you on which
Sound card i should buy , and please the cheapest one , i dont want something really special , just to record vocal raps with clean voice .

First of all, you shouldn't be using a USB cable to connect the Shure SM58 or any XLR microphones to a PC. You need an Audio Interface.

Second of all, what you are trying to find is an Audio Interface, like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Unless you state your budget, we'll never know what we are supposed to recommend to you.

After you have told me/the forum your budget, we'll be able to assist you further. :D

i am using the USB cable to be able to speak with the microphone through skype etc for now .

i've been told that Steinberg CI1 USB Audio Interface would be good enough for Rap Records what do you think ?

the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 seems kind of expensive , i dont want something so special.

Just to let you know, using a USB cable to connect the Shure SM58 is the same as using a $5 microphone.

I have a Steinberg Cl1 myself and I use it regularly and it doesn't seem to give me problems. One bad thing about it is that if you are ever going to use condenser microphones, you will only able to use two condenser microphone at 1 go as the phantom power applies to both microphone inputs.
 
Okay thanks for letting me know , so u think i should buy steinberg Cl1 ?
 
I'm planning to use just shure sm58 for rap music , thas all so is that what you wonder?

if so then ill buy it.
