Ableton Drum Tracks

hi i am new here. i use ableton to record music mostly with real instruments. i want to incorporate electronic beats into my music though but im a bit confused about it and i though maybe somebody who knows about it can help.

so im using a kit808 electronic kit but i want to individually add different effects or eq to say the snare or the high hat but im not sure im doing it right. the way i am doing it is basically is making a seperate track for the snare drum and one for the high hat and adding effects to them that way. im sure there is a better way to do it though probably or is this an acceptable way of doing things? i though it would be neater if i could do it on one track.

any help or advice is appreciated.

That's not going to happen I'm afraid, but think of it this way, pick a song and do you think with just that song on one track could you change how the lead part sounded? you could make subtle changes without damaging the song depending if there is one instrument a lot higher pitched than all the others or the other way round.
