Subject: q10

hi... just like to confirm something about the q10 unit.

it says it can handle 24 bits...

is this the same as the 24/96, which records at 24 bits/96khz ?

The only reason i'm asking is because there is no specifications section on the q10 page.

Much appreciated,
Rory.

It handles 24 bits.

Presently, the highest available sample rate is 48kHz. A driver update will be released some time in the next few weeks that allows 96kHz.

Does anyone have any information about this new driver and it's compatability? Is this going to be a god send or a FLOP.

information greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Rory.

I don't see why there would be compatability issues and it also is going to support 88.2 khz . . . which downsamples to 44.1 a little better. the only way to will flop is if it's buggy and theytake forever to fix it.

If Aardvark follows it normal procedure the drivers will work great when they come out sometime in 2004. You kind of need to think in terms of dog years when Aardvark says a driver will be out in "a few weeks." I recently found an article on Aardvark where they are quoted saying they expected the 96 khz drivers to be out in a "few weeks." The article was from January.

That being said, there are many here who have argued that 24/96 is overkill anyway. So, a slow driver release may not be a reason for major concern. Now that Aardvark finally has its Win XP drivers, I think the Q10 is a fantastic unit for those of us who need lots of inputs. I have one and love it.

The other day in your other post I quoted the sampling rates that I found out on the specifications page of the Q10. I went back out there after reading your question on this post and I CAN'T FIND IT!! It makesa me crazy! I know it was out there because I checked it out before I posted. Somebody's playing tricks on me, I know it. (Or else the pain pills have been working better than I thought.) Anyway, according to Aardvark's web site of the other day the highest sampling rate is 48khz. I kind of figured that they would soon be offering a driver that would boost that rate, it's just a matter of T I M E .

96khz driver.

ah well.. i still think i will buy the q10.. The thing i find extremley funny is the fact that the little brother of the q10 has it's own 24/96khz drivers... Why is it so hard to get some q10 drivers when they're almost the same unit ?

but anyway... if it's not apples and oranges.. the outputs with all those pres and a few phantom power plugs still makes it by far and away the most complete unit i've seen to date...

so, ark users, lets get naked, paint our bodies with chicken blood....... run down to ark headquaters.......*looks around desperatley*.... rally that they give us better drivers or we'll bring our mothers' down in their best frock they could afford in 1954 and make all those techo's clean every corner of those dirty drivers till not a spec or BUG, can be found : )

thus, a driver without specs, will attract no bugs... sounds like a revolutionary idea for the arky driver guys... i should email them :)

*scoots off to do that*

cheers guys,
Rory.

By the way the Aardvark final version of drivers tend to work fine. It just takes forever fot them to be available.
