thanks man. do you have sound samples such as a mic'd amp, or drums or vocals? Im thinking of buying one. thanks

I have some but I don't have any good mics yet so it wouldn't be a good sample w/ the Q10.

I've had one for a year and a half and love it. I'll be buying another one after building my next DAW. As far as preamps, I think they're great. Mics I've used with it: Marshall MXL67G, CAD E100, Superlux drum mic set, SM57, SM58, lots of other lesser mics, DI boxes and DI from Line 6, DI from FX pedals and DI from cabinet heads. I think it's a great price for 8 preamps too although I wish it had phantom power for more than the first 4 and phase invert switches would be nice. I'm currently using a PIII 750MHz, 256M SDRAM, two 7200RPM hard drives, Win 98SE, Cakewalk PA 9 and lots of plugins. Next DAW will be P4, about 2.8MHz and Sonar.

I'd send you some samples but I'm on a dial up connection and it would take forever to upload.

I have one, and want a second one.

Sure, the Q10 preamps are probably not in the ballpark of a Davisound, etc, but they are probably better than most mics being used. They are quiet, clean, and the package works very well. Bashing a product is easy... providing an A/B proof of why a product sucks is harder to produce.

After much research, the Q10 fit my needs perfectly: it accepts XLR mic inputs, TRS line-ins, instrument DI inputs. I really don't like using TRS cables for mic's so this disqualifies some of the competing products. The Q10 supports up to (4) interface units, or 40 total inputs. I need 16 to handle all my needs for performance recording. A PCI card slot is required in your PC for each Q10 breakout box.

I didn't want a mixer involved in the signal path. The Q10 is direct-to-PC and the console surface is in software. No moving parts, no mechanical problems.

Samples. . . Hey I got them for you

-Rock-
(All using the Aardvark pres)

(Again all using Aardvark pres)

-Acoustic-
(Ditto)

RnB-ish

I find the Aardvark pres to be full and quite usable. Lots of gain and clear. The only problem

Hey I am going to have my Aardvark up FOR SALE at the end of January. I am doing one more album with it and then selling it for $600. In perfect condition in box and everything.

I am upgrading to Lynx L22 after that. I now use an RNP inserted into my Aardvarks first 2 channels and that setup will work perfectly for the L22. I don't need so many channels unless I record drums. For that I have an RME ADI 8 Pro.

PM me if you are interested in buying it, otherwise I hope these samples help.

I just bought a 2nd one from eBay, so I'm out of the loop now.
