I am trying to install a Q10, w/ the latest 7.13 drivers. It appears to be installing the drivers for the Direct Pro 24/96 instead of the Q10. When I open the software it brings up a mixer for the 24/96. I bought this as an open item and I wonder if they gave me the wrong card. Has anyone had this problem? Does it sound like a problem with the card or the drivers? Any help appreciated. I am running XP.

It will automatically open up the mixer for the 24/96 unless you have the aardvark connected to the PCI and turned on. If the q10 is not connected, the 24/96 panel will pop up, if it is, the q10 panel will pop up.

hmmmmm.... I had it plugged in. I didn't even know it had an on/off switch. I will feel like a complete idiot if that is the problem.

there is no on/off for the Q10. if it's plugged into the slot, and connected to the breakoutbox, it should pop up correctly.

but please tell me.....once you get it working....when you play anything through windows media player, does your computer start responding very slow for 5-10 seconds before it starts playing? take a look at my Q10 thread..i've been having some issues...ha

i have the q10 and i have the same issues with my computer and windows media player.... though it only lasts a few seconds. i think its how it outputs the sound... i havent seen any way to change it like winamp though.

i hardly ever use windows media player tho... so its not that big a deal to me.

Whoa, that's weird about it being plugged in and still getting the 24/96 controls... i've never had that happen. There is no on off switch, but make sure that the red aardvark is lit up when you turn the computer on.

The Aardvark never would light up, but I know it had power because the phantom power switch would light up when switched on. I tried everything and no matter what I did my computer thought it was a 24/96. I narrowed it down to either it is the wrong card or the Q10 or card is not working properly. I returned it today and am going to try a Delta 44. Thanks to everyone for your help!

well i use it sometimes but only for some videos. i have quicktime and realplayer also...

there are a bunch of good free movie/audio players out there (winamp is just one example).

i have onboard sound in my box though so i can always switch it over if i need or want.

hmmm...i have onboard too...

do you think I could set it up like this:
windows control panel main sound devices = onboard sound.
and just use the Q10 for vegas/recording programs? would it work out that way?? haha. I mean, I don't want my mixdowns to go through my onboard soundcard, i want it to use the Q10! haha.

EDIT: errrrrrm, I just realized - How will I hook up my bx5's to the OTHER soundcard...! haha...derrrrrrrrrrrr...any ideas? haha

hmmm...well i do have a behrginger 802a..which could serve that purpose. However, I wanted to pack that up and never look at it again.haha.

You think I could route it through the Q10 somehow? Maybe as inserts or something? or even through the inputs if I had to....?

What ya mean ... route it through the Q10?
It all depends on what your trying to do.
In the above scenario (two soundcards > one set of monitors) you could send the main outs of the Q10 to one of the stereo channels (i.e. 5/6) and the Line out of the onboard soundcard to the other stereo channel. Then just ride the faders to bring in or out the soundcard you want to hear.
If you do that, you may want to make sure that the 802's circuitry doesn't change the sound at your monitors as opposed to the sound you get just coming off the outputs of the Q10. You want something that is as transparent as possible but allow you to manage the multiple sources to the one set of monitors.
Other than that, there's a lot of things you could use a mixer for. It just all depends on what ya wanna do.

ah yeah, i see that much....

but I'm thinking I DONT want to do that (unless i must), because the 802 adds a noticable amount of noise to the speakers.

I'm wondering though, can I put a splitter on my onboard card's lineouts/speakerouts, and then put the L/R into the Q10 - and still be able to control it all with the Q10 knobs now? Would putting it in channel 1/2 inserts work in this case? I'm thinking I'd need to go right into the INs on the Q10....although inserts would be a bit nicer if it'd work alright. ha.
