ok i've had this piece of equipment for a while now........when i record my vocals their too bassy (I use a rode nt1 a bright condensor microphone).......I do not know how to use the effects in real time (eq,compression,and reverb),the manufacturers are down,the drivers are HORRIBLE,basically I wanna know if their is anyone with this piece of equipment that can maybe drop some knowledge on how to use this thing to its full potential......I use this with my adobe audition 1.5 software, thanks in advance.........

I don't think you can blame the vocals being too "bassy" on the Aardvark. I've been using a Q10 and 2496 for years and they pretty much give me what I put into them.

Your results are more likely the result of mic placement or less-than-optimum trim on the input channel, or, possibly, poor playback hardware. Or - perhaps you've got the input EQ active and don't know it?

I never EQ on input. Compression on input can be useful. It's not that hard to do these with the Aardvark interface software. Do you have a manual?

sorry to sound like a noob but im just tryna get the best quality out this equipment i got...........how do i know how to find the right "Mic Placement"? do you have aol instant messenger by any chance? if you dont mind helping me out it'll be greatly apreciated.....also my eq is off i have the compressor,eq,and reverb all on BYPASS.......and as for my out put i have a over average sony stereo.......im looking into monitors but i dont want to buy cheap ones they really suck (speaking from experienced) so im tryna save money to spend atleast a thousand on a pair of active studio monitors......any way if you can teach me a lil more of mic placement that'll be great........THANKS in a advance

Sorry, I don't do IM...

Without decent monitor speakers it's hard to know exactly what your results are. Your recording's not gonna sound like a professional CD, because it hasn't been mastered - a lot of the "sparkle" comes from mastering.

Do you have a good set of headphones?

In regards to mic placement, with voice it's pretty simple. For a lead vocal, you generally want to be 3-6 inches from the mic. Any closer and you'll get a lot of proximity effect (boost in bass response). A lot of times it's good to point the mic down toward the mouth but not sing directly into it. Use a pop filter if needed. Good luck!
