aardvark direct pro 24/96

Please please,please can someone help.My old keyboard player has re recorded some of our old songs,but he has hit a problem. He cant isolate the vocals,from the music hence when trying to put the vocals down the backing is recording as well.He seems to think a better sound card would be the answer ie aardvark direct pro.The only problem is the cost. Can anyone sugest any other sound card that would do the same.
