Aardvark and Win2k question

Aardvark finally released their Windows 2000 drivers, and I've been trying to get everything playing nice on Win2k for a few days.

Everything seems "relatively" ok, except that I am having trouble with media players. Windows Media Player is REALLY slow - it takes about 5 seconds of freezing the system to load a song, and then once it's playing, it's the same thing to use any control - stop, pause, etc.

So, I've been trying some other media players. J. River Media Jukebox works pretty well, but has a few glitches here and there. I could try Winamp, but I was looking for an all-in-one solution for audio, video, etc.

I think this is all due to the Aardvark's drivers not quite playing nice with everything but I dunno.

Anyone else using a similar setup that could offer suggestions on a media player, etc.?

I had the same problem with mine using windows media player...

Didn't really matter to me becuase if I was going to play back a wav I just used the multitrack software - computer is dedicated to recording.

I was on the pre release drivers at the time...and, the same thing happened when I was running it on 98 as well...so, I don't think it's just a Win2k issue.

Havn't tried to new drivers yet but I will be soon. "Relatively Ok"? Eeek.

Thanks for the info. Glad it's not just me. I think I'll drop a line to tech support.

I may see how winamp works with it, though I hate installing and uninstalling all these different programs. :(

I Had similar problems, they were related to direct-X, I removed version 8.1 and went back to original on the win-2000 CD and now audio works perfectly. HOWEVER I have not tried media player yet. When I get home I will try to see if it works.

Interesting... I'll wait on your results I think. The problem is that I need at least Direct X 8.0 to run Acid and Vegas, so...

Hhhhmmmm...

The J. River Media Player is sorta kinda working. Doesn't stream all that well sometimes, and is quirky, but not too bad.

Update from Ben at Aardvark:

We are aware of this problem, and it should be fixed in our upcoming service release, schedules for May 15.

Woohooo!!! I'm really used to WMP, so it will be great if they get it taken care of.
