So, I bought a Sovtek mig-30, from Ebay.. ..from russia.

Yeah, shoulda expected trouble.

Well, hooked it up to a cab, set the voltage to 220V, put on power, turned all pots to zero, turned on the standby, and ZZATT!!
..there goes the "valve" fuse... Turned it into a little stronger, put on power, turned on the standby, ZZATT! ...goes the "main" fuse...

...f*cks sake... In russia, the amp cranks YoU!

Haahaa!!

Took some fuses with me, ripped out the power-amp tubes, and turned the thing on, no blown fuses!
--> reinstalled one of the tubes, works...! YYAAHOOOO!!!!:D:D
--> the second tube burned the fuses again--> just a busted tube!!:D:D:D

I was kinda worried for the output transformer, since it is undermeasured, and thus vulnerable, but no, just a tube.

The sound was great even with a single power-amp tube, can't wait to get a new pair.

But, the thing still keeps blowing fuses constantly, not while playing, but if the stanby-switch is turned, or the powerswitch.. ..?

I'm gonna change all the pots and switches..

well... the other tubes are , even if un-used, 16 years old! :D
changing those too I guess...

Maybe this was just the "big invisible all-controlling phantasm in the sky" (aka 'God')'s way of saying "hey, change the damn tubes if you wanna hear this thing the way it's SUPPOSED to sound!"

You know, or something like that...
