I have an Athlon XP 2600. Apparently it is too old for SSE support. AA 2.0 requires SSE support. WHat do I do get a new PC? Damn! Is there any way around this?
I already upgraded my cpu from an Athlon 1700+ to a 2600+ myself. I am pretty sure I am at the top of the line for my MoBo running 133 Mhz Front Side Bus. I either have to replace the MobO and my HDD because it's an IDE and most new MoBo's come with Serial HDD's, or I could spend about the same amount and get a $400-500 New Dell. I searched for enabling SSE, but all I got out of it was "Athlon's supported SSE halfway through the production line" meaning earlier Athlons like my 2600 don't have it. I'll look around again though, maybe I missed something.lpdeluxe said:I'm no computer expert, but I believe that SSE can be enabled with an AMD Athlon. That's what I'm running, and it works fine with AA 2.0.
You might google "Enable SSE" and see what you get. If you can't do it (no offense, I wouldn't try myself), most towns have computer shops that could do it for you.
