can you play a .wav file on a CD-R on any CD player as an audio file???

Cheers

If you write a wav to a CD-R as a wav (as data) it won't play on a CD player.

No... Audio CDs must conform to Redbook standard, which does not include the reading of WAVs (which is considered a data format from an audio CD perspective.)

is there any way then, of converting a .wav file to a format able to be played by CD players?

It can be done with software - there are many kinds of packages out there......... Nero Burner, Easy CD Creator... take a trip to your local s/w dealer or music store...........

There ARE some CD players now that are compatible with PC CD-R disks containing MP3s. And the prices on them are dropping fast.

Just burn an audio CD.... blank disks are only a few dimes apiece.
