Here is a new tune about...ah...just listen.
I'm mostly trying to figure out if the vocals are too uneven in volume or tone.

Feel free to comment on anything. I adore your positive and negative feedback, it's all equally valuable to me.;)

If you dig it let me know.

If it's dumb say it.

A Wanderer

Thanks for listening to my junk.

I like it....

Here are my humble thoughts:

Guitar(s) sound good. Bass gets a little lost behind them volume wise. (I love cranked bass!) the low end is there, it just needs definition.

Drums have a nice sound but are a tad back in the mix IMHO

And............don't you own a fuckin' crash cymbal or something????
A ride, a SOMETHING!! This jammie is screaming for some smakin...

Ooops...just heard one at the end..........
Smack that mother a couple times in this baby!

Good point! I was thinking about it but I didn't want to ruin the original drum jam..thanks.

God Damnit. I was downloading this, and I could have reamed you a new asshole, and you commented on my stupid tune first, dag nabit:mad:

Pretty Cool. I personally would like the vocals a bit louder. I listened on my headphones first, then my Tannoys. The vocals are a bit dull, I would turn up the treble a bit.

The recording is nice and tight. You did some nice stuff with the panning. I like the effect at 1:35, nice effect.

I could hear most of the words, not all, but I am guessing that I could if you bumped them up a hair.

Also: this was not available on lo-fi . I like to hear a tune on lo-fi first, and then download if it is good. I would have downloaded this, nice tight sound.

End of post, you can continue the hatefest towards me, but I enjoyed the tune, very good work.

Yeah, it's kinda dumb...

...but I was diggin' it anyway.:D

The recording is good, just needs some help in the mix dept.(vocal too low, mix is kinda flat) and a good dose of 'tude (would be cool with more of a punk vibe).

I really like this a lot! But I seriously worry about what that says about me.;) this is some twisted shit! I've listened to it about 15 times since I downloaded it last night.

Love the vocal phrasing especially as it builds towards getting really busy at the "chorus". There's a catch 22 though - the level is perfect for the song, but I can't hear the words. You did a great job sounding almost like 2 different people doing a duet.

Drums sound wonderfully rough. Great job getting a low fi vibe whether you tried to or not.

On the first few listens I thought the guitars sounded too digital and smooth - but now I think they're great. A good contrast with the drums.

Hey jake...great song...the drumming leaves a little to be desired. I thought he could have put a LOT more energy into that...but, whatever he was going for artistically I guess....have a nice day, good track.

Hi Jake.

Sounds pretty cool,I liked the guitar sound.
Did you use the Tech amp?
I got one and really like it.

I thought everything sounded right for feel of the song.
Doubled vocals were cool, very Frank Zappaish.:D
Me likes!

Pete

Cool song Jake.

The drums have a cool vibe but the timing seems a little inconsistent in parts. I'd agree more HH or ride would help it move a little.

Vocals have a great feel. A little flanger might help liven it up a little more. I love the double tracking.

I dig it.

good punchin jam. I like the way the its starts a mean groove when the bass and guitar are synching too. Guitar sound good but overall mix needs some high end on it to get the clarity out there. A splash cymbal somewhere and ride the bell on one in a place or two would be cool. I`m old so you`ll have to overlook this analogy if it dont suite you, but I got a Foghat feel, and it was good :)

does your dad know you record this electric stuff?

hang your head in shame, boy.....

take it up a couple notches and get away from the Grand Funk level of power rock. This one needs some Cobain assimilation.

Yes my dad knows and loves it, he plays rock too...though the 'message' might freak him out.

I will never need any Cobain anything....you just said that because you know how much I hate him huh?

I agree about the drums.
This tune started as a simple improvised jam of drums and bass, I recorded the rest as an afterthought. That is why the drums don't seem to be played with the emotion of the song at heart.

Thanks to everyone who gave a listen...I appreciate the feedback from all of you fine folks.:D

I'll bet what it is 'saying' to you is something that never crossed my mind, I work hard to make that happen....you'd never guess what the song is relly about but I'll never tell.

Sorry about the lack of clarity in the vocals, I tend to mumble and use my hands over the mic for effect, sometimes good sometimes not.

Thanks for listening!

By mix do you mean vocal or overall mix?

Anyone else think anything sounded flat? I realize the vocal line is weird in places but the cromatic shifts are intentional if not entirely smooth.

Overall mix

Not flat note-wise, flat as in "doesn't do much". I like mixes that have lots of dynamic changes. Otherwise, why not just 2-bus compress it and call it done.;)

Unfortunately it seems the big boys are doing just that. Shame to waste all that dynamic range on a +/- 3db mix.

I didn't add any processing to the stereo mix besides a +3 dB boost but I geuss thats besides the point.

I don't much care what the big boys are doing...

I think I get ya. I think the mix seems a bit dull in overall emotion. I'm sure this is a result of the way it was composed and my amateur singing style.
I'll probably re-track the whole thing to tape in a couple years so this is just the..I guess 'demo phase' of this one.

Thanks for the response!
