Your definantly a creative musician. You never know what to expect. Good soundtrack stuff..... Kinda reminds me of Vai's solo stuff. Im gonna have ta pick up some bud for this-lol.
Im trying to quit, cause I was put in a position of maybe having to UA people at work.

:D:D:D:D:D
Look out now!!! I guess I'd better go open a bottle. :D

Ya' know.......I went thru Kentucky on my way to and from Crawdad's place.......I even got lost there on the way back........damn, I should have dropped in and said hey..........well, I'm going up again next year so we'll have to do that.

nice work my friend....I listened to the "mix 2"...the only suggestion I would make is back off the snare just a little, little bit....just a tad..it was just hitting me on the head when I was listening, seemed just a little anoying...but thats up to personal taste as well I guess...great song

I like this. I like the movements as they are.

This isn't a criticism, but.....I think this would sound great with some real drums. Never really said that about any of your tunes before. Just somethig I hear in my head on this one. It left me wanting to hear some "bigger" and "spacious" drums....I was hearing toms in my head, almost tribal....

That brings me to Sluice's point about chants. I hear it to. Like an evil monk choir. I forget the groups name, from the 80's I think, that used tons of monk like chants with hip beats. Enigma I think.

The guitar that came in @ :20 reminded me of Satriani, something off of Time Machine. Very cool sounds Sam.

Like the piano parts a lot.

Over all I think this mix is nice. You have great sound quality in your recordings. I hope I can get this level of quality someday.

You write interesting instrumentals. Very cool indeed.

Nice work!

Hey Sam,
Dude..... nice tinkling!!:D I like the piano in the beginning of this'n alot....sweeet! .....the quirky little ebow at the beginning too. My favorite aspect of your instrumental tunes is the dynamically low stuff. I like the big/hard stuff because of the contrast it creates, .....but the mellower stuff (like the beginning and ending of this) really gets my attention. You mentioned your rush influence.... ...low parts like these really make that apparent. Ive got no mix nits.... ....I like it the way it is.
nice bro! gw/5

Cool as usual. I loved the jazzy piano.

The DI acoustic sounded pretty good especially for this song style, but I heard some crackling on each strum at the beginning. I think that is the DI causing that. The guitar mic. I could be wrong.

The changes were cool as usual. Listening again and the piano is way cool. Then the big drums and guitars. Perfect. Then into the synths. Nice.

Well done all around.

You're weird!
And I mean that in an ever so good way.:D

Middle section again was very Thrak-like. Beginging and end - don't know what to compare them to, not that I should even try. Cool stuff!

I had my mp3 player on random mode the other day. When "gossip machines" came on it wasn't until the end of the song that I realized I wasn't listening to King Crimson. Being mistaken for King Crimson speaks volumes about your production quality.

sometimes I read the responses and don't know how to respond.. there is so much more here than just mix feedback.. it's easier to type stuff when your responding to flaws that people point out, but when everyone's just saying cool stuff I almost don't even want to respond.. Not that I don't enjoy reading it because I do, but I figure why keep the thread around? May as well make room for someone we can bitch at! :D

I'm going to try to sum it up in one shot if you don't mind..

first, thanks again for the feedback.. Anyone who has been listening to my crap for the past year knows that my stuff isn't as good as it used to be.. Not that it was ever great, but I used to do actual songs.. Now it's just a bunch of little ramblings.. To tell you the truth, I'm just happy to be able to record anything at this stage.. hopefully I'll get back to structured stuff soon..

for this jam, I recorded the acoustic to a metronome and then doubled it (played it twice).. It was tuned to drop C#.. direct acoustic chain was guitar into a Blue Max compressor, into a Behringer mixer, then into my recorder.. the electric guitars all went through a Pod Pro and then the Blue Max compressor, then the Behringer mixer.. doubled and tuned to drop C#.. Guitar is a Korean Hamer Telecaster with a Seymour Duncan hot rail.. I haven't changed the strings since I posted my first song here over a year ago.. (except the occasional ones that break every few months.) I used the whammy pedal on the rhythm to give them a lower tone by pitch shifting them down.. ----->mud. :D There was no EBow in this one, but I used the Boss AW-3
Dynamic Wah, and the PS-5 Super Shifter.. Normally I use a J-station track and or a SansAmp track to mix up the rhythm tone, but I got lazy on this, and it sounds it..

2 synths on this.. the ultra low bass-ish sound was an Alesis QS6.1 using the Vintage Synth expansion card.. I sent it through the Behringer because it has a low -cut button, and that button made the woofers stop moving.. the voices and synth solos were a Roland XV 20-20.. the voice parts are 4 different parts.. I played the keys with both hands and recorded it in stereo.. I did it again but played different notes.. higher or lower depending on the part.. the piano was done with a billion punches.. I just kept punching in until I reached the end.. I can do those little piano runs fast because I play the same type of shit over and over.. I'm not a real piano player by any means.. -----> it's all about the black keys! :D

all the keys went through the Behringer..

programmed the drums in Fruity Loops, but I have the midi out of the computer going to a Roland TD-8 drum sound module.. I added nothing to the drums, just set the volumes.. It's a basic simple lazy drum beat.. I'll be putting more time into that stuff in the future..

I'll finish this reply later.. It took me 3 months to type this.. I have a few p.m.'s to send to some of you, but I used up all my cpu time typing this.. I'm gonna check out a few tunes before bed..

thanks again for the ears!! :D
