I've been training in a real recording studio to become a mixing engineer. my trainer told me that I should start mixing other peoples music as often as I can.

-- Do you have a song that you'd like mixed from an unbiased position? I am willing to work with any style.

If so, contact me and we'll discuss how this can be done.

I've been writing songs and recording for 6 years and mixing for 2 years. if you want to hear some of my projects, go to

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/2/1265/singles.shtml

hope to hear from you.

Did you participate in mixfest? you stil may be able to get someone to send you the files to mess with.

i have never heard of mixfest, but i appreciate your response. i will look into it and see if i can find some things to work on...thank alot.

What format would you like to play with? I use Cakewalk PA 9 so I can save each track individually onto a CD. You can hear one of them at www.nowhereradio.com Do a search for the band "No Stigma" or for the song "Feel Real." Send me an email at west@surfsouth.com and we'll talk.

i use Cool Edit Pro for all my mixing and mastering. i will check out the track later today and e-mail you...what i would want to do is, have the artist send me each track (.wav files only) with notes on where the track begins. thanks for responding...you'll be hearing from me

Are you the same Samich17 with the ad in the back of Recording Magazine? Just picked up a copy last night.

Hey Samich

Is that like, yo, give me a tuna samich, or something like that. Or, you know, any kind of samich I guess. You know, a samich is an intersting item of food, after all. You see, you need two pieces of bread - at least two that is. Then the insides. You got your samich meats, you know, bologna (whay is that pronounced boloney) well, anyway, you got your BLTs, you got your, of course, tuna samich, you got your turkey samich, chiken salad, chiken breast, Uh, wait a minute, ummmmmm, this is a recording web site, oh yeah, almost forgot. Right, mixing, that was the question, am I right? Well, lets see now, I am trying to learn how to down load my stuff into MP3s so as I can exchange and colaborate over the net. I would love to hear someone else mix something I did, that would be a thrill for me. I am using Digital Performer. So far, I don't know shit about MP3. In fact, I don't even know how to burn the tracks onto a CD so that another Dp user can add, subtract, mix and match. So, if you could help me in this area, I would be happy to give you a chance to mix something. I play keys, do all the sounds, put vocals on etc. My tracks are good...very good. I know you would get a real kick out of mixing them, so, lets see.....

if you have a song that is broken into individual tracks ie. bass, guitars, keys, percussion and/or vocals...then you'd have to send me the individual files (.wav only, because mp3 files are of lesser quality) because .wav files are much larger than mp3's, you would have to put all of them, including the starting times of the individual tracks in a zipped package and send it to me...
i'm not familiar with Digital Performer...usually, multi-tracking programs will allow you to convert your files from .wav to mp3 and vice versa...as far as burning cd's...i'd never recommend burning mp3's, because again, the quality is lessened when you compress the files.. some people don't care, but when you're working with your own music, it's best to work in .wav files.. if you have a cd burner, it should've come with a program to set up your tracks and burn them...let me know if you have anymore questions. thanks

Okay, I can convert to WAV. I am pretty sure. So, I am going to look in the manual and see how I can do it. The tracks are there, that is, the individual tracks. If they can be converted to wav. and put on a CD, I could then send them out. ONce I have accomplished this and learned this skill, I will let you know. Unfortunately, I have been very busy with regular job and, becuase my work is a few blocks from where the WTC used to stand, we have been somewhat hard hit by the economic slowdown. Tough times. Thank god there is music in this world. Otherwise, at least for me, there would be little other reason for existence. Well, okay, there's some other things too, but...

So, if you have any tips on converting to wav. pass them on. I realize though that each program has its own peculiarities.
