A-T AT813 condenser microphone

Hey everyone,

Just scored an older Audio-Technica AT813 from a friend to try out. What if any differences are there between the new AT813A mic and the older version of this model I have? This 813 has a battery compartment and an on-off switch too. Who knows it might sound good for mic'ing guitar cabinets? Looks as if it might sound great for acoustic guitar or overheads too...

I read an interview of some engineer in TapeOp a couple of years back (can't remember his name) where this guy thought highly of this mic fro vocals. No personal experience with this mic unfortunately.

Both vocals and snare were recorded with an AT813 on this:

The drums are crap because my makeshift studio for that recording session had 2 Celestion main cabs w/15" woofers and horns and 2 cabs with Eminence 12s and horns with a Peavey 118 for sub... Not ideal. I like my current Alesis M1 active MKII's better.
