a special song to all of my friends...

Holy shit. The Devil does Carol King. Hilarious. I can see why this gets the most response during your shows.

You know, for some reason I wasn't suprised when I heard this...either you mentioned it before here or it's on your webpage somewhere. Or I'm having some serious dejavu.

(And BTW, I can't rip you a new one for this...it DESERVED to be covered :)

This one is a bit DIFFERENT. If you think my other stuff sucked, wait till you hear this!!!! It will not be posted on mp3.com (or anywhere else) so get it while you can...

SLAK2000: Here's your chance to tear me a new one...

DRAGON: You never respond to my MP3 posts... If you think I suck just let me know... No hard feelings.

Gibs: This ones for you.

Dobro: acoustic guitars even!!!

DMC: A kiss for ya at the beginning.

At our shows this song is the one that gets the most reaction out of people... I had doubts about recording it but I did it anyway.

Peace and love

I actually really liked it. I wish you guys could of heard one of my local metal bands doing "Long Haired Country Boy" I think thats a Hank Jr tune. Any way it was really cool too!

thats pretty damn funny...almost as funny as Mr. Bungle covering "Baby hit me one more time" by Brittany Spears...

This reminds me of Type O-Negative doing their "Summer Breeze" cover.

S-8N: I downloaded some of your other materail; I like your production.

Evil twin number two checking in. I was grinning from ear to ear. Harmony even! Dang I even heard a blues riff. toot! toot! I liked it.

Now I'm waiting for you to do a whole CD full of Tom Jones covers. How about, "What's New, Pussycat" for starters? I thought the amp noise was a little out of hand, but other than that- nice job. Great Concept.

Damn Fishmed,
I new someone was gonna make the Type-o Negative connection... THat song might have subliminaly influenced me somewhat. I'm not a big fan of them though, although their first album is a classic which still has a place in my collection.

Dammit I'm pissed..the good news is I downloaded Exp 5 and actually got access to xdrive and downloaded your tunes. The bad news is that the f#%king download went so well, I decided to give in to the f#%king blinking Realplayer icons and download the new version and now Realplayer won't work at all and I still haven't heard the songs and the goddamm realplayer tech support people are assholes that won't respond and now I have a headache and probably high blood pressure and I hope everyone dies a horrible death and rot in some horrible cyber hell while they're waiting for SOMETHING to happen godammit....and according to the above reviews, I'm missing something cool...have a nice f#%king day..dammit...dammit to hell....gibs

Winamp is the only mp3 player for me... Did you hear that the RealJukebox mp3 player was transmitting the users musical preferences back to their headquartyers via a trojan horse type program on the internet? They got busted and had to take it out... Facist bastards!!!

This mix was so hot I put a lighter up to my speaker and that fart torched it! Goes to show that every bad boy does has his love song. This is my favorite song yet from u S8-N. The vocals (if u call it that) were a lot clearer. You make some very powerful statements (that I dont always agree with but love to hear) in your other songs, but i have to look up the lyrics to understand them.....Anyway, great job!

After the laughter had died down I had a good listen to it a few times through and thought - hey, this pretty good!!! I actually think it's best production I've heard from you. Just a quick question? What set up are you using to record vocals - thought they sounded awesome!

I use a 57 at 8 inches, a C1000 at three feet, slightly to one side, and another C1000 at six feet, slightly to the other side.
Added EQ, compression, and reverb.
This was a very quick mix because I wanted to get on with learning Vegas Pro... I spent most of the time on vocals cause its a very vocal oriented song. It was kinda weird cause the original Aretha F. version had no guitar, and the mix is strange. Something is kinda out of tune sounding between the bass and the piano. Some bizarre chords too. I dont even have a copy of the Aretha version anymore so I kinda had to wing it. I flubbed some of the words and changed a few, too. Originally my drummer did the backing vocals but he couldn't make it when I needed him to, so I did 'em.
The drums are pretty much unprocessed... I changed a few things about my mic'ing technique. I got a decent book on recording that pointed me in a different direction as far as mic'ing the kit... It worked pretty well, although I kept the drums pretty low in the mix.
Glad you like it...

S8-N:

Man that kiss at the beginning was a little too wet for my taste, and your breath really smells, and was that tongue or.....nevermind.

This is by far the best mix you've posted. The guitar sound is much more spatial then your previous work. And your vocal track sounds excellent. I wasn't thinking Type O Negative though, more along the lines of Mike Patton an Faith No More's "Angel Dust"... The song where he talks in a low voice saying something about Everybody staring at him or somethingorother. Everything is much improved.

So, you're using Vegas, huh? It is by far my favorite. Very simple, intuitive, and powerful. I think you'll like it. I'm no expert at it but I know my way around it, if you have any questions, email me. I think doc's been using it for a while as well.

Just a little piece of advice: lay off the beans.

DMC: Have you by any chance heard Mr. Bungle??? Mike Patton is probably my biggest influence. When I first started singing I was ripping him off hardcore... Now I have somewhat of my own style so I only rip him off a little...
If you've never heard Bungle (Mike's real band) run, dont walk, to the nearest music store and buy every Bungle disc they have...

Yeah,

I had their 1st cassette? back around 1991-92. I really liked it; at the time they kinda reminded me of the Butthole Surfers (one of my favorite all time bands), not because they sounded like them, but because they achieved new levels of musical strangeness...funk-death-metal, complete with brass. To tell you the truth, seeing recent posts about them has rekindled my interest in them, I just haven't made it to buy any of their music yet. Any recommendations on where (which album) to start?

dmc

dmc, just buy em all(only 3 albums). they're all great, but I cant decide if I like Disco Volante or California as my fav.
