A song w/ only MXL 990 and SM57

from experience I would post it on a different site as purevolume does not have good quality streams at all.
 
the bass is too loud .......... that isnt a real grand piano is it?
 
Yea, too much bass, but that's kind of obvious, hopefully. A bit of reverb on the vox could bring it a bit further back in the mix, they sound too close and out of place (I feel like walters using these words, but hopefully you know what I mean). Since the room you recorded the drums in wasn't a very dead room, you might want to add the reverb to almost match it.

It is a real piano, but is a (really shitty) upright, not a grand.

I'll bring the bass down at some point -- you're right. And the vocals could use a bit more verb -- this is true.
 
I listened to the remix, and thought it was pretty good. Vocals sound a bit dry, or up front for the rest of the music. Drums sound a bit distant. The drums may be distant on purpose. Piano sounds pretty good. You may need to try a little more verb, or some delay or something with the vocals. They just seemed a bit dry for this type of song. They are very good though.

Nice tune overall.

I think you over shot the low end cutting. The first mix had some wild low end. The new one is pretty thin but better.
