That happens on that site. It happened to me awhile back. He will have to wait a couple days and try to upload it again.

just upload it to lightningmp3 or soundclick or nowhereradio or.............

.........was it originally on lightningmp3? i have'nt had any issues there before.

It needs more of a defined tempo in my humble opinion. It sounds a little messy to me although i like the violin work.

it was done to a click...7/4 for most of the song...6/4 for the instrument part

I like the way the strings are panned here...reminds of ELO or the Move way back when.....I agree the tempo seems a bit scaterrshot at 1st and makes it hard to feel the groove on this.I like the vocals and the playing very much...

yeah...i'm fixing some string rhythms...

i think if i fix all that it will..better

it's working for me now and sounds good. i like the overall arrangement and performances. i like your voice too. nice job man.

It sounds pretty nice I think. The strings sound awesome. I just found them a bit too upfront for my liking. It needed to turn my monitors down to stop them from leaping out and attacking me.

Bring them down a touch?

EDIT: and yeah like someone else said - define the tempo. Will sound so much better if it all fitted together better.

Interesting writing. Personally, I think playing with the tempo is okay. It's normal in non-pop music! I like the weird time signatures.
The biggest problem... the strings are way out of tune. Relative to the acoustic guitar and voice (which I am considering "in tune"), the violin is quite flat. The cello or viola (the lower one with the moving quarter note line) is variously sharp and flat on different notes.
That's why I don't play the violin, though I tried to teach myself.

yep. we're both very similar styles.

actually...since i started playing guitar i've made up pretty similar things, and have always had a penchant for strange rhythm.

it wasn't until someone said "hey, that's like nick drake", i checked him out and really liked it.

and i constantly listen to great classical strings.

check out debussy's string quartet in g minor, or stravinsky, or the tosca string quartet.

5 leaves left is a great album. probably my favorite of any artist ever.

you should check out joanna newsom...milky eyed mender.

its fantastic lyrics and music, once you get used to the voice.

i'm going to redo some of the strings most likely. it was the first time/day playing them (i've had a string quartet play with me) but right now, there's no one around and i've only got around...2 years of cello/violin under me, so it's difficult.

and i don't think its bad to sound like nick drake. there's really no one like him, with strings nothing like his. but it sorta pains me when people say, you play a 2nd chord like this artist...you should quit. i mean...how many times has open GCD been used, and no ones ragged on them...

i've written out the strings for day is done for violins/viola/cello, and i know they're not very similar, though they are strings.

dude what are you talking about. This sounds awsome reminds me of some beatles style production if only I can have a production nearly as good.

I envy this song good composition :D.

Interesting sound. The strings need, errr, just a tad more detail to intonation, sorry :( :D I like the arrangement of them and the tremelo stuff etc. Cool song, I like everything, just needs cleaned up a bit.

not suck.

Pretty nice. :)

The strings could use slight verb, I'd say. :)

robert kirby did all of the strings for nick.

i'm gonna head back to a long day in the studio. today i forgot to eat lunch and supper until...9 or so. haha.

and no...i didn't spend all day just on this one...haha.

as much as i don't want to retake...its a must i think.

I need some good string inspiration myself, I'm always just following the chords and it sounds really generic

try to give them rhythm first. and know that they don't always have to be on.

if you listen to classical or ...anything really...improv with humming parts or whistling. try to be thematic in your practice and try to not do simple long bows. it helps the creative juice.

i've played strings for just a little longer than i've heard nick, so i'm pretty poor with site reading and intonation. i'm gonna try harder this next time

sounds like-------you--dude

yeah i see the resemblence more to a beatles sound but.......your a damn fine arranger.

i agree that you should tighten up the timing alittle, but after a second listen it seemed more trotting and in itself which i dug.

NOT SUCK
