Yes, there was some use of Melodyne on the lead vocals on this song, VHS. As this is a demo for future musicians to someday rerecord, I created a better melody for the singer to be guided by, using Melodyne as a melody creator, which would account for some of the anomalies you hear. The lead vocal is thus ready for a redo based on that melody line I created. What's the effect on the vocals? It sounds really auto-tuned, which is generally frowned on in this sort of music.
really cool song, I really like the BGVs. how were the drums recorded? the toms seem to have a different processed sound than the snare. Good job.![]()
Thanks, Lurker. Mix 58 was created because a few members from this, and another site, said the bass needed to come up fuller than what was represented in mix 50.I liked mix 50 much better than 58... However, only three things I can see changing abot mix 50...
1) Vocals are too dynamic... when you hit higher notes that have more power/emphasis they realize cut through the mix too much. Overall volume is good though.
2) The guitar you have that comes in at 1:08 which is panned is pretty twangy... Maybe cut frequencies around 8k Hz?
3) The "background" instrument that comes in around 3:00 and ends around 3:26 is WAY too loud. Cut frequencies like crazy and turn its volume down after that too probably.
Again, these were comments on 50... Hopefully they help in some fashion. I'm listening on Sol Republic ear-buds.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm avoiding mastering these songs I'm posting in lieu of HR members telling me I'm "overcooking" my mixes with too much compression, but, yea - mastering would make it beefier.Whoa...this reminds me of music I listened to as a kid. I'm not sure exactly sure why but I feel like the track could be a little beefy-er... It's cool though. I can hear everything really well. over all, pretty solid mix (IMO), perhaps some mastering would really thicken it up...then again, I never know what i'm talking about.![]()
