----------------------------------

I've learned not to record songs that i play live, because when i play them, i can't get the recorded versions out of my head and i end up sounding strained and forced and shitty. once i hear my vocal track 30 times, it's burned into my memory and i can't get it out. does anybody else have that problem?

very cool, very original!!!!!! and the mix sound's great! IMO.
right on track with your other stuff.

and the "not so fresh feeling", hell yeah it happens to me!!!
but i dont play live. if im trying to mix a vocal, and i just dont like the way it sounds, when i try to re sing it, it comes out the same way!!!!!!! i can see how it could translate to a live performance.

anyway, cool tune

peace

i like the wavy texture....cool....the effect on the voice is cool its just too quiet.....like the change up....lol....are you reading a poem??......nice......man this is like 3.....3.....3...SONGS IN ONE!!.. kick around 2:00 sounds great!.......another cool song........ok ....hasnt knocked off hi-ho stereo..as my favorite but still a very crafty song here.....ill prob listen to it a ton...

Funky clean wah-wah, stuff. Excellent, and original... all hallmarks of "cat-eggs". Great FX on the vocals. You play with that crackly distortion stuff to really great effect. Have you been inspired by the progressive nature of Sam & SLuiCe's stuff? :D

I like the talking in the outro. Quirky excellence.

genius.

i love it again man...

you need to come play live in atlanta sometime.

chrisharris, I'm dieing for you to answer 2 questions for me.

(1) do you like this?

(2)once i hear my vocal track 30 times, it's burned into my memory and i can't get it out. does anybody else have that problem?
Thanks for asking, cat-eggs. That would be a huge "HELL YES" to both questions. I wish I could actually improve your mixes, but...blah, blah, blah ... great, hooray, kudos, blah, blah!

As for the 2nd question, it's a TON worse when you've played a song with a band for awhile, then record it yourself (and hear your vocal 30 times), then try to play it live again. That TOTALLY screws everybody up...I find myself being in the position of looking at 3 other people on stage who are looking at me like I have 3 heads and they've never heard the song we're doing.

You're steadily putting together a very solid indie release. I personally hope you STAY indie, but I'll listen after you get signed and stuff too.

ACTUAL CRITICISM

Turn up the spoken vocal a touch...just a little, and balance it with an equal reduction in the "la la las." I don't think it'll kill the effect you're going for, and it'd be cool to be able to make out at least 1/2 of the lyric.

ACTUAL QUESTION!!!

I know you're using CoolEdit (to much greater success than yours truly), and I was wondering if you use it for your vocal reverb...or if that's a plugin.

Thanks,

Brilliant!

That's the only way to start a response to your songs cat-eggs. In answer to your questions, yes this is again a truly genius piece of work, love it, love it, love it and yes I think everyone goes through that. You should have no problems, you're your own worst critic and no one else will ever know the difference. Please keep making music and posting it here for free for us to hear ;) :D

Great tune again--you can do no wrong it seems! Well ok if I was forced to complain I'd say that wah wah effect was kinda buggin me-but thats my old neighbors fault not yours...I would like to hear more of the lead vocal at times too....but anyway real interesting song and mix...again...

As far as your question-well...does this mean that you don't perform your recorded songs live and you wont record your live tunes???how strange! I suggest you find a way to make it work-folks are going to want to hear the "hits" you know? Maybe try the ole vegas delivery or something......

Cat,

Not my "type" of music but I know good music when I hear it. This is really good. Great use of gear and a very nice mix!

thanks for the feedbackj.

jamal buchet: it actually is a combination of a few songs that didn't work by themselves.

participant: i listened to macle's song on this board, and i've decided to keep myself partly sane by not hearing really good home recordings anymore. i'll definitely listen to crappy ones though. it makes me feel like a man. a bigger one.

chrisharris: glad you can relate... it's hard to explain how annoying that is. the longer i go without hearing the recording, though, the better i can cope with the way i sound. i'm fixing to clear up that talky part. i didn't realize how muffled it was, probably because i knew what i was saying. i do use cooledit's reverb because it's easy to use.

Stratomaster: yeah, i don't record the songs i play and vice versa. but, i don't think the songs i play are much better than the ones i record.

if anybody finds a cure, let me know.

thanks.

Hey Cat eggs.....
......nice one man....... a very enjoyable, deep listen. I dont think a bass would be to distracting from what youre trying to do....... and it would be nice to hear a low end. ...a Stand-up would be really cool. ......Cool stuff man...... very creative.
