I have several drum beats the are slightly out of time... about 3 or 4 beats...
how do I shift them slightly to the left or right? I don't want to drag the drum beats around as it's pretty inaccurate....

Thanks.

Pier.

Audio or midi?

Is each drum on a separate track, or is everything on one track?

This reply might be too 101ish but if the drum beats are midi, then I would go to the piano roll view, select the beats that are off and then quantize them. If they are audio it might be a little tricky; let us know.

It's midi.
What if I don't want to use quantise... because in my project the guitar audio is a bit off beat and i want to change the drumbeat to follow the audio guitar ?

Well you could always "right click" on the note in PRV and type in the time you want by hand.

Or you could delete the original note, set the "snap to" grid to the appropriate setting (1/4, 1/8, etc.) and then draw in a new note.

However, if you are trying to follow an off-beat guitar, I'm not sure why you are worried about accuracy. Just drag it until it sounds right by ear. :p

i use quantize for the hats -n- cymbals, but i set the quantize rate for 75%.

then, i use the hats tracks as the clipboard and do a groove quantize on the other tracks.

the quantization of the other tracks is based on the clipboard i took of the hats -n- cymbals track so the tracks have a nice groove without being rigid.

oh, BTW, i typically record my drums to one midi track by playing the kick, snare, and hats with my fingers and then adding toms, cymbals, and other percussion sounds when the tune loops around. once i'm finished, i split the single midi track into kick, snare, hat, and overhead tracks.

Many thanks for your tip... newbie here... like to know which quantise rate you are talking about... is it the swing parameter?

I believe it's the Strength parameter :)
