Hi.

Just done this tune 'Sinari'. It's very slow, sort of melodic ambient-ish? I dunno really. Any comments? I was in a bit of a chilled-out, glass of Chardonnay sort of mood.

Cheers,

Chris

That's a groove.
Lotsa keys here - (are you the guy with that seven-foot grand?)
Are these all midi sounds? I'm confused - lots happening here - that guitar sounded pretty nice - for the second that you played it.

I can't find anything to bitch about with this mix. It's all over the place - gradually. Nothing gets lost. (Is that melody played on the acoustic piano?) Nice string ambience - it surrounds that haunting little melody line. The snare gets a little "BIG' sounding for me but wait - let me turn it down - never mind - it's fine at less-than-earth-shattering-volume.

This is nice music. No issues with the mix as far as I can tell - but there are lots better on this board to judge that - I just know what I like and I like this a lot! Very nice groove.

Phillip Aaberg - have you heard this guy??

Phillip Aaberg - isn't that the guy who plays piano ocassionally for New Grange (bluegrass/newgrass group)?

Wonderful vibe, loved the song, wished the guitar in the opening bars was a little hotter, but that's all I can come up with.

Nice work.

tame the snare jus a tad, the piano could use a drop of mid to give a little more meat and blood. Real nice groove. I like the ambient verb. The verb sounds good, just a bit heavy in the qiet parts, gets nice and transparent in the fuller sections. Very smooth and digestable groove...

This is a wonderful, dreamy, romantic, gentle landscape As some might be want to say ... Looooooovley ... :D

The mix issues are the snare and the kick, they are almost distoring, working them more dynamically over the course of the piece would be nice, but never approaching the level they are at.

VERY high quaility sample and effective use of those.

I jammed solo style with the viola over the whole thing several times.

Of the three pieces you have presented to us thus fare :

halflight.mp3
schmoozin.mp3
sinari.mp3

If I HAD to choose one that was most appropriate for me to work within, I would say this is it.

If you would, please consider making at least a 192kbps mix for me of this, after addressing the mix issues board members have pointed out, and this will go on my A list for collaboration.

I expect one day, I will just be jamming, (and I always record that the CD's are piling up), and the proper lead lines will materialize.

I tend to build them up over time, and then go in and edit for the best and do collages and such, so it take a while.

One day I'll be good enough to just lay down the ideas that develop over weeks, in days :-)

And that's not far away, I feel on the verge of a plateau, and it's because of this board and posters like you who provide me with these kinds of unique and personal musical statements to be a part of in my home.

This board ... rocks.

PM me about the mix to record viola leads over, or carry on in this board, which-ever.

fix

Thanks for the comments, very helpful. That's what I like about this board - it's really useful. Before, I hadn't noticed the snare - now I do!

And I'm off to fix it...

Cheers.
