As a guitarist, I can't believe I'm saying this, but the lead parts could come down just a dB or two. I'm a sucker for catchy pentatonic riffs though. Nice stuff!
So yeah ... maybe back the solos off a tiny bit, and just a tad more attack on the kick. But that might be me just trying to find issues where there aren't any at all!

At around 52 seconds, you have some dropouts in the right-hand guitar part. is that intentional?

yea, the solo is mixed a bit louder than usual, but for me, that's where the action is in this song.
i like it sticking out, kinda like the cheezy synth riff that drops in just before the last little solo bit.
i guess if it was a longer song, your comment would be dead on, but since it's so short, i decided to go for the aggressive mix.
and yes, that right hand part drop out was intentional, i like the idea of it being obvious that the parts are actually played, not copied and pasted.. and that it was intended to be a bit loose, for the vibe.

Nice mix - has a cool "live" vibe to it. The synth at 1.25 was a surprise, but I couldn't improve on it

Really good, there seemed a bit of mis-timing in the drum before the guitar solo. or maybe it's supposed to be that way !

yep, the 'live' vibe you describe, is ALWAYS the thing i try to get, even if it's just an overdub.
i try to capture some room sound, in the guitar and drums, and the voice is pretty much the same.
i stand about a foot and a half off the mic with a pop screen, and it picks up the room too, which adds to that 'live room' sound.
the synth, yea, that's just to get your attention again.

Oh, I know how you record (I've seen the pictures), I just hate you because I know how much better your gear (and technique) is than mine
I think I do ok with my plug-ins, but I just don't have the gear and technique to get good results with close micing

If your snare drum is on a track of its own, copy the track and pitch it a few cents down. I do this sometimes when i want a fatter sounding snare. just bring the level of your new pitched snare slowly up until it blends nicely with the original

a ART DPS preamp ($219)
i gotta sm57.....
and a AT4033.
got a decent bass (carvin lb70)
and a sansamp to run it thru.
i got some cool guitars tho...
and a nice old almost vintage (1981) mesa boogie amp.
but the secret, is singing from the heart, and playing loud.

Only the amp of my wet dreams, the source of half of the great 80's hard rock tone!! Oh yea, that was only 29 years ago, guess we can't call it vintage yet Seems like last week to this aging, former Aqua Net user!

and yes, it's only rock and roll. that's why i can get away with putting those 'swell-y' parts in there...

but don't pay stupid prices for it.
when i bought mine, they didn't have them in stores at all.
it was strictly factory direct.
and once you put your order in, you had to pay for at least half of it up front, and the rest before they shipped it...
i waited 6 weeks for them to build it, and ship it.
worth every second of the wait.
i paid $750 for the head (i added the Graphic EQ section), and another $100 for a killer Anvil Case for it.

I listen right off my laptop into cheesy lil Altec tiny speakers w/ tiny sub. 9 outta 10, it has too much bass; thats why I heard, or didn't hear the lows.

Very cool tune. Had me thinking of Tesla and SKid Row a bit...something about vocals reminds me of Brant Bjork and the bros, but heavier.
Vocals and guitars are great. Compression on master seems a tad too heavy...on my monitor headphones anyway.
Sounds pretty pro to me though.
