"Take It All - ver 3"

this is a remix i did after reading through all the great suggestions that home rec members gave me here on this bbs.....
i told a few i'd re-post it for comparison, so here it is....
i think the "ver 2" was the first version with vocals i put up.....
the very first version was an instrumental version, and it's buried in the "works in progress" page.........

Don't know if you've been asked this before but what have you been doing as far as marketing your music? It's definetely ready for the big time.

I cant tell very much differnce from this and the last version you posted. The drums on this version seem to be drowned out by the guitars.

Still a killer rock tune.

yeah the drums dont do this song the justice it deserves.. I guess that's why you made them low.. great tunes though.. recording and performance.. I enjoy your guitar very much..

hey, thanks for the responses!!

but damn, damn, damn!

the drums sound great through my monitors at home, i even find the "trap" area of the room to check out the lowest frequencies, i even mastered the drums "by themselves", just to get more kick and punch......
and not try to do it on the final mastering.....

it does sound weak through my computer speakers and sub though...

wow, i really gotta figure this out....

i didn't intentionally bring them down, as sucky as they are, i wanted them pretty strong.......

damn, damn, damn..........!!!

well, back to mixin'......................
;)

dude, you have to keep in mind that some people here (like me), love to look for the one minor thing that most people wouldn't even mention.. I wouldn't sweat it because it really does sound great!

for the most part

:D

i couldnt get this to play...it just keeps "buffering"....hmm....maybe its too good for my piece of crap computer.......great....thanks for ruining my comp ....jerk..:D ...

ok ill try again in a bit....with the reviews so far.....i have got to hear it....

hopeful
jamal:D

sorry to get back so late.....

thanks b. sabbath-
it really does help to have another ear though, another perspective...
it helps me to concentrate on things that i need to focus on more...
too many choices, i'm prone to focus on one element, and forget another...

so much to learn......

sorry for the trouble, jamal.....
it's so much easier to deal with this stuff when you download the files, if you've got the connection to do it in a reasonable length of time...

I don't know anything about drums, but this thing sounds great. If I were you, I'd move on and tackle another project... then listen again. I'd be willing to bet you'll be pretty happy with this tune as is.

Good luck,
Chris

I APPRECIATE YOU'RE CHECKING THIS OUT....

jcmm-
thanks for the edit! LOL

chrisharris-
yeah, getting away from it for a while has given a different perspective.....
i think i will re-do this one though, starting with mastering the drums all over again, to give more punch in the low mid, instead of the deep low.....
i spent a lot of time looking at tones below 120 hz, and tweaked at 80-90 hz a lot......
on a load, big system, the kick has a nice thump, but you'd have to have a really strong low end to really hear/feel it.....
now i know.
i'll concentrate energy at the frequencies where the kick really makes more sense, and leave the lower energies to the bass guitar......
it's a good experiment.....
thanks again for listening.

Gonzo - Sorry, I haven't listened to the tune, but you might want to also consider eq'ing the bass as a way to bring out the kick drum.

Don't know if this will work for you, but try and lower the bass eq in the 300 Hz range, and increase it in the 1500 and 3000 range. Use a Q of about 1.0 or 1.1 and see if that doesn't help the kick.

If not, it didn't cost you anything. :D

Im listening on computer speakers at work right now, but it sounds great man. Did you know there is a Band already called Trouble? They are a great band by the way.....I will be checking out more of your stuff at IUMA. I also have a site there. Dreamstorm....Check some of it out.
