Hi there,

I am still having problems setting up my new Artcore AF95 VLS. I took it into the shop where I bought it a week or so ago, and the tech did improve the setup, but the rattle that was driving me nuts decided to play possum in front of the tech. Anyways, it returned, and so I recorded it so I would have some evidence the next time I go in. Now the guy, while seemingly competent, has this 'you are expecting too much out of this guitar' attitude,' which I don't, really. I just want it not to rattle.

So, the favour I would ask would be if I could send you the clip (about 20 seconds) so that you might be able to localize where the buzzing/rattling is coming from. I don't have a place to upload music to, so if you'd PM me with an email addy, I'd really appreciate it, and I could send the file as an MP3 attachment.

The buzz/rattling is intermittent, so it is definitely NOT a 'feature' of the guitar. It seems to be located down near either the floating tune o matic bridge (or saddle), or in the tailpiece.

I would really like to go back in there with some kind of idea of what I want him to do. The touch is ok, not too high, definitely not low. Sometimes, as well, the open G string will sound fuzzy.

So, if you have a few minutes, I'd really appreciate some help!

Thanks,

MK :)

Here is the guitar in question.

A recording wouldn't help, sorry.

What I'd suggest you try is to take a piece of felt under the tailpiece (just a small piece right by the hinge) and between the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece. I can't promise that it will work, but many archtops get buzzes in the tailpiece area, so it's worth a try.

Well, thanks anyways!

The problem is solved, at least for the moment. I took the Artcore back to the shop today and ended up exchanging up for an Artcore AS-103. It was a bit of a hassle, but...

If they'd had this guitar in the shop when I purchased the other one, I wouldn't bought the other one. I would've bought this one.

Cheers,

MK
