I just wanted to let everyone know how incredibly helpful Cory (sweetbeats) is and how important he is to this community. He's constantly remotely trouble-shooting different people's gear and does it selflessly.

I can personally attest to his abilities in this regard, because he recently walked me through a repair on my Tascam 388 to restore my non-functioning monitor buss signal. This took a period of weeks, yet he stuck with it. The short story is that now my 388 is fully-functional.

I just started tracking my first song on it today - had a drummer friend over and recorded 6 tracks of drums (Kick, snare, OH L, OH R, rack tom, floor tom). The results are awesome --- so much better than I expected! I can't wait to finish the tune and share it with everyone.

Anyway, I wouldn't have a fully-functional machine if it weren't for Cory, and I just want to say thanks again in a very public way!

I've bounced many a question off of Cory via PM's during my console searches the last couple of years...asking for his viewpoint just so I could get an outside perspective, since every time I saw a potential console, I would get all jazzed up about it, and I didn't want to jump into something like that.

I was in touch with him multiple times during the acquisition of the Trident I ended up with..and we both agreed it was a good deal and a good fit for what I was after...and it's turned out that way.
I then also bounced a bunch of questions regarding my plans to recap and re-chip the console...knowing that he's had many hours of hands-on doing the same kind of stuff.

I've felt bad for him that he's had to dismantle so much of his own recording and refurbishing world the last couple of years due to his personal situation...yet he still found the time and interest to hang around and contribute...and now it looks like he's starting to get back into the swing of it now himself, even if at a smaller scale than before...:)...which is great, because that means he'll hang around here that much longer...a benefit to all. :thumbs up:

lotta good guys here...... he's the gold standard!!! I have appreciated all his help.

Uhhhhhhhhwowww.

Thanks, guys. :o

@beagle: I AM SO EXCITED to read you are putting the 388 we fixed to task...that sounds like a fantastic time...a buddy and some tracking...making music...love it! ;)

@miro: It's really humbling when you realize little bits you share about life's ups and downs are noticed...that you are missed when you aren't around...salt of life stuff I guess. The past 3 years have been a rough, rough ride. I've lived in my car, gotten divorced, gotten remarried, moved 5 times, had a precious 4-pawed friend taken away by cancer, and continue to deal with some intense legal issues with my ex regarding our children. It makes me tired. My wife is a treasure. And I really, really enjoy the community here and being able to help when I can, and my ability to help is the result of a LOT of people helping me with a LOT of problems over the years...back in 2008 when I joined I didn't even know the ins and outs of calibrating a tape machine. Sometimes over the recent years I just haven't felt like doing anything at all. I think the degree of interest in participating here has been a litmus test for how on-the-level I am. So, it's good to feel interested in chiming in here again. Thanks for the support.

Make some music, y'all. :guitar:

My shout out consists simply of you being responsible for getting me aware of and signing up in this place. If not for you and your m520 thread, i wouldn't even be here.

Your help in all things, even if not on my issues directly, are a valuable wealth if knowledge.

As corny as it may sound, you sent me my first request for friendship. I was so honored.

I owe you a beer.
:D

Hear, hear!

Mr Beats has help me in the past also. A very helpful and knowledgeable gent.

Thanks again everybody. Really truly very kind and appreciated. :)

@Ron: is that a BR-20 in your avatar? I'm assuming that's yours, yes? Didn't know you had one...maybe I did and just forgot. :p Anyway, good to know of another one out there.

From the mod staff, thanks Cory for all you bring to the site. It is truly appreciated.

I read old threads from this site for years before I finally joined, and many of the ones that I remember helping me the most were the ones started by him. Thanks for being so open and sharing with yr knowledge. That's what makes this place preferable to some other places out there. The awesome community of people .

Couldn't agree more. Cory's awesome and has been a help, and inspiration, to a lot of people. Great stuff... and here's hoping to many more years worth!

Robert
