Hi guys,

Okay, I know I am feeding myself to the sharks here :), but here goes.

This is just a rough draft of a song I am working on so that I can work out my mixing and recording techniques. Any suggestions and comments would be apreciated.

A couple things to consider: I am not looking for pro quality recording, a decent demo is fine by me. I do not have a *studio*, this was just recorded through my bass amp by a Shure 57 that was pluged straight into my soundcard. I used a $60 CDN program called MAGIX Audio Studio And the drums are just a drum machine program I have.

I haven't worked out a structure for the song yet, I still have more parts to work out and assemble, but I'll do that later. I only set out to experiment with recording...

Oh and ther are curently no lyrics...

Thanks for your input, and remember, this is my first mix ever...

Not bad at all for a first attempt - especially for the manner in which it was recorded. Try pulling up the drums a bit, and cutting some of the high end from the sampled cymbals. I'm not sure if you recorded guitar and bass, or just guitar, or just bass or what - if you recorded a bottom bass line, it needs to be a bit more defined.
Again, not bad at all for a first attempt.

Thanks for the input...

...Yeah, I know about the drums, not much I can do, because the drum program doesn't have an EQ, so I had to EQ it in the mixer that came with the recording program. So when I EQ it, it affects the whole kit. I may seperate each piece of the kit, and import them as idividual tracks so that I can tweak them individually.

There are two guitar tracks and one bass track, but I had to use my little sister's crappy Yamaha Bass from her school because the E on my fretless is busted, and I've got new strings on order. SO I didn't bother defining the bass too well. When I actually make it into a proper song, I'll have my bass, and I'll get a better sound out of it.

Thanks again for your input :)

Hey...I like it a lot! Sounds like your off to a great start. Good luck with the lyrics...I find that it's sometimes tough to add words after you have most of the music already written.

Thanks for sharing the song...
