Here is a song I did, collaborating on www.artistcollaboration.com

Someone sent me a rough demo of the tune, and I did all the music tracks and back vocals except for drums. The person who wrote it did the lead vocal.

Any comments on the mix or instrumentation appreciated!

I hate the guitar tone. It's glassy in all the wrong ways. The lyrics are pretty lame, but the singing and recording isn't bad. The synth/organ adds a nice warm feel, so that's working. Drums are about right for the genre. Backing vocals are perfect IMO. Lead guitar is tight (was there an overdub?), appropriate for the track. Ends a tad abruptly.

It definitely qualifies for 'waiting to die' slow rock radio, but from a homerecording standpoint the production quality's there. There's a warm early 1990s slow country music sound thing going on. But I hate country more than rap. :p

Thanks for the comments!

I was listening to your song "Booty Attack".. how did you get Lemmy Kilmeister to do your vocals?

I agree that the guitar tone at the beginning is overly bright. Needs something in the right speaker to counter the guitar on the left. Otherwise, the mix sounds o.k. Vocals are appropriate for the genre.

The solo was nice, and the electric fills in the verses and all. The bg vox are really nice. I agree with scrubs that the lead vocal is appropriate for the style, but the song in general is pretty luke warm in my opinion.

Overall, the production is nice, especially for home recording. I think you did a great job with what you added.

Well, I'm doing one more mix, I'll turn down the "glassiness" on the acoustic guitar, and do a few more adjustments and then it's time to move on..

Thanks for the comments!
