A new tune, from a kinder, gentler gonzo......

hey,

do you mix on headphones? THe mix sounds great on my headphones.

The only thing I can pick out is that the vocal has too much reverb IMO. also, maybe the snare could use a bit more snap sizzle.

Beautiful orchestration of the guitars. Catchy without being overly sugary.

Yeah, the snare needs to be sharper - but I found myself listening for enjoyment rather than looking for things....

Vocal reminded me a little of Jon Anderson.

yeah, totally have to agree with you about the drums. This drum track was using my old roland 505, with sounds from 1985! ha!
talk about dated! LOL

i've got a new zoom 123, and with 80 kits on it, i'm still trying to figure out which one i want to use.... i've done some experiments with a few, and have a couple of different tunes already done with different kits.... jury's still out......

i do my first mix in the headphones...... do all the basic setting up..... i use a very flat pair of audio technicas......
then, i crank up the infinitys and sit in the floor right in between them, and go from there....... doing checks at 3 different volume levels........

then i burn one, listen in the phones again, and make any changes from that.......

i think i'll re-record this one, with a new drum sequence...... any ideas on a different beat.......? This one's kinda sparse, but i originally thought it'd be best to let the music have some room to breath..... it's suppose to be a little spacey.......??!!
