A New TripleM song

Very cool song. I too hear some pitch issues in the harmonies....not just at 3:09 but throughout the tune. Not major mind you but they are there. The harmonies are very cool. I especially like the spots where the harmonies carry you into a line of surprise chords. Very cool indeed.
The harshness would clear up if you pulled down the EQ at about 2k or 2.5k I'll bet. And maybe bump up the EQ around250hz....maybe as high as 350hz.
Lastly....the drums could still use a little work.....I hear a few timing issues here and there. I'm not being negative.....I really like the tune a lot and fixing these things would put it over the top.

Where are the drums? Are they kinda left or am I hearing weirdly? The whole mix sounds a bit distant. I'm not sure what you could do to make the mix more closer. Maybe do some compressing, I don't know. The vocals sound like they should be fuller, so you might wanna EQ them a bit, unless you're going for a oldie-type sound. There's something weird in the harmony vocals at about 1:10 or something. Definitely something wrong, unless you really wanted that.

Ok, those were the bitches, but the actual song is good. I like it.

I agree with the retro comments.. someone mentioned upper mid sounding about your mixes and I agree.. I also wasn't crazy about 'some' of the harmonies.. They didn't' sound so much like harmonies, but more like octaves in certain parts.. maybe I'm wrong.. The song is good though..

You asked if it was ready for the radio, I would say no, but maybe they would pick up on the song itself because it's better than the recording.. very cool lyrics too..

Others have given you good suggestions, (Lt. etc.)..

I'll just say it was a nice happy sounding song that had my foot tapping...

Sorry I didn't get to this over the weekend...

mixmkr - dammit some day I'm going to impress you!! I'm glad you at least liked the song. I think I've improved seriously from where I started a few months ago. I'll take your comments to heart and try to implement them in the future. Thanks for your ears and time.

chrisharris - thanks for the thoughts. I have music I love from just about every generation. I'm a little too young to have experieced the 60's music scene first hand, but I would have loved to. Neil Diamond wrote "I'm a Believer" and about a million other great songs, but I don't believe he wrote "Daydream Beliver." I could be wrong though. Say hi to your mom. :D

Lt. Bob - I think the harmonies were on pitch, but now I'm starting to wonder if the part itself is off in a spot or two. I'm going to try some EQing first. If that doesn't make it more pleasant, I'm going to figure out a better high part - I think the problem is just a note or two.

crankyone - your comments about being "distant" hit home. I have some ideas to try. Thanks.

Sam - thank you once more for your thoughts. About the mids - I think I need a new amp or new ideas on dealing with the one I have. I can't picture you tapping your toes :D. I can picture you with a fist raised in the air and your head banging back and forth with a sneer on your face. But not the toe thing...

To everyone - thanks again.

hey mcubed..

im listening to this again...and man you have a such a great voice..the first listen my winamp was all messed up and fuzzy...now its fixed and this song is even better.....i always listen so close to yer songs because they always have such cool lyrics..so the first time thru i missed alot of it....and the only thing mix wise i can offer is there isnt much bottom end on this.....really all mid range and high......

another cool one.
jamal

reminds me of early REM stuff.....i like it man..........the drums sound kind of 'clicky' for lack of a better word, i think it is the high hat that is making it sound that way.......anyhow, the vocals sit well and there aren't any major issues, good job
