Hi there. I'm looking to get rid of my pro tools rig and switch over to a rackmount harddisk recorder and mixer. I'd like to get some use out of it for live recording, as well as I may be moving around a bit and would like a more mobile project studio. It won't be going on tour or anything, so durability isn't my chief concern, but I am looking for gear that's more hands on (knobs and buttons and faders) and not alot of scroll menus for the features. I'll probably purchase a bit of additional outboard gear, but I'm looking for suggestions on a good core mixer and HD recorder combo. Budget will probably be in the 2-4,000 range. Any help would be much appreciated.
(Also, I know there are good "all-in-one" units, which I am still looking in to, but am curious if I'd be better off with components.)
Thanks.
