Excellent performance and arrangement as always.....I like the way the vocals cut through the mix. I wonder if a bit more reverb on the vocals would work.

Sounded very good to me. Liked all the performances.

Some minor points and/or suggestions...

I'd like just a little more bite out of the guitars. They sound pretty good as they are, but I think a gentle boost at 2800hz or so might make them just a bit more edgy.

I think it'd be cool if you doubled the high harmony part and panned them opposite each other (right now you have one of them panned left).

Little pops on the left side at 1:03 and 1:04.

Little buzzing-like distortion at 3:21 - 3:22. A couple of other smaller instances later on.

Great guitar lead.

thanks man.....
the vox are bone dry (except for the short spacey part in the middle)
i think for this one, i'll leave em dry.
it keeps em in the front so much better.

thanks for checking it out

i did a new mix, so i boosted some 'bite' in the rhythm guitars, check the new link, top and bottom.....
the boost ended up being around 2.3khz

i listened for pops, there are none on the original file, it must happen during the streaming.

same with the buzz....
you just never know, with streaming...

i think i like the sound of the lightningMP3, better than the soundcloud.
i guess the best, is downloading a 320kbps mp3, but most people just wont bother with it.

Updated mix:

"Just Walk Away"

i didn't master this one, except to apply a bit of master eq and 5db of limiting just to bring the level up a bit.

you can see from the screenshot, it's very conservative, level wise, with zero compression.
the soundcloud waveform is a bogus view of the actual waveform.

Outstanding! Man, I don't think I'd change a thing. The mix is meaty as all hell...totally dig the drum work. Solid tracking on the guits. Maybe when the tune breaks down @ 2:35 some fx could be thrown at the vox to make the contrast a bit more intense, but really, it works as it sits. What a cool tune...kinda Molly Hatchet meets Head East wearing a prog jacket.:D

Sweet jam @ 3:50 gets a little proggy wit it!

Very cool tune man, I completely dig it. Goin on the playlist at the office.

I downloaded the latest mix.

The pops are there. They might be caused by the singer opening his mouth to sing.

I'm also hearing the buzzing at 3:21. I'm hearing more later on.

Neither of these things are real prominent. But they're there.

Nice tune. No nits from me. Everything sits nicely. A good example of a tune out there that kicks to what's heard on the radio. Nice one!!

thanks !
meaty, that's what i'm trying to figure out how to do, consistently.
you know, i've already got effects i bring in on the vox in that one spot, but obviously i didn't crank them up enough during that section....
but that's excactly what i had in mind, right on.
tell the office rock on.

wow, i listened this weekend, can't hear the pops.
there are mouth noises from the intense compressor settings i used during tracking, and i do a lot of string hit scratching during some of the rhythm tracks...
same with the buzzing, i actually solo'd all the tracks at that time section, and there's no buzzing on anything.
i can't figure it out.
got me curious tho.......

thanks for checking it out.
radio play, honestly, i never listen, so i don't know, but i'll take your word for it!

i'm diggin' the lightning player.

are there any drawbacks/issues/weird stuff?

seems to just work plain and simple. nice.
