If you ever want naturally flat vocals, Tom, I'm yer man!!!:D

There's at least one twisted genius among you guys - mebbe all 3 of ya. Thank goodness you're using your powers for good, rather than the RIAA, I mean evil...

This was brilliant. Loved the Bowieesque vocs, loved the droning guitar, loved the throb, the breaks, almost everything.

But I hated the drums. Was that a brush on the tom? Russ Kunkel meets Alice in Chains? Back to the drawing board, Khompy.

So it's a flawed masterpiece. Still a masterpiece. Kudos to all y'all.

Daf (responsible for some of the worst drum tracks ever heard in the clinic, continuing our pot and kettle theme:rolleyes: )

Jeez, touchy about the autotune, aren't we?

BAHAHAHAHahahahahahahaha... No, just to clarify, I was kidding in my original post. But then, to see Sam and Tom throwing around Antares jabs was almost...surreal in a way, lmao.

Oh, anybody who uses shifters or antares to correct pitch is a talentless hack; for christ'ssake, autotune is to be used for the cool vocal sound...you dweeb.

Same thing goes for harmonizers. sing or play the fucking harmonies, you hacks.

(this is the part where I post 34 links to threads where I talk about how I use Autotune to correct pitch and everybody laughs).

Oh, and Khomp...sorry. I'm doing my best to listen and type, lol...reading the threads is out of the question (unless some kind of pitch shifting debate looks likely, of course). At any rate, no offense intended.

I work extremely hard for my vocals Chris. I may in fact be a little sensitive about them. I wish singing came naturally to me like you.

I'm not at all even suggesting that AT users are talentless. As I've said before, I don't like what it does to the tone of the voice.

I guess I misinterpreted the tone of your post. It's just that ever since you had your wife critique my music with nothing but negatives and nothing to add of your own....well...things have been a little different, you see...It's hard to know where you're coming from sometimes, with all the lol's and lmao's. You're like a lawyer or something. lol! lmao!

I know. I'm a freak.

Doesn't really matter either way. We'll do what we'll do. The important thing is we share our musical ideas and opinions. And I want to never do anything that hinders that process.

Peace
Tom

Okay, first: There's never been any question around here as to your talent, at least not in my mind. I was talking about me.

"Things have been different." Man, I was afraid of that...which is why I tried to apologize for quoting my wife months ago. That whole post was in response to a trend and recurrent theme around here that I hated at the time...(i.e., people telling members how they needed to post, and slamming the "gushfest" threads. I think people need to just give the opinions they have, be they critical or not, and that's what I used to try to do - My wife's opinions were not my own, and were posted merely as an attempt to thumb my nose at the "proper way to post" theme that was pissing me off at the time. it was basically the only way that I could comply with those unwritten and arbitrary guidelines, b/c I'm not gonna' just invent something that's wrong with a mix or a performance if I think it's great. I don't know how I'm supposed to post, but I don't know how I've been different, other than just being "different," like weird, but again, I recognize that (here and here only), I do shed the lawyer thing, and I'm vague. I'm not a lawyer, it's just what I do for a living.

It's like the first post I ever saw from Jamal here...It started with something like: "Okay folks...here's my latest chart-topper - lemme' know what you think?", and knowing Jamal like I do, that post is funny as hell now, b/c he's TOTALLY ragging on himself all the time, so I "get" it now - he was making fun of himself - but when I first read it, I was kinda' like "who the fuck does this guy think he is???"

That's how I apparently came off in my last post. See, the "sensitive about the AT" comment was me jabbing at me, b/c I'm pretty fucking sensitive about my vocals too, and everytime that the A.T. issue comes up, I realize that I get all defensive and weird and over-react and it's one of the things about me that I try to hide and act cool about, but whenever I go back and read how I've responded, I always feel like a total dork...It just warmed my heart to see you defend yourself, that's all dude, nothing more. Any further explaination by me would be dumb, so I'll just leave it at that.

I know this is kinda' long, but I get really nervous and worried and I beat myself up a lot when I've done something to hurt somebody; even if the somebody is a jackass, lol...but ESPECIALLY when the somebody is a person who I like and respect. Oh, Sam...same thing goes for you, by the way. I know you don't always "get" me either, but trust me, nothing I wrote should be interpreted as anything other than me trying to make fun of myself...you just have to turn it around 3 times and fill in the punchline yourself for it to make sense. Actually, I think maybe you [sam] usually give me the benefit of the doubt these days when I stick my foot in my mouth and you assume I'm trying to be funny (and just failing). That's the right way to take me, lol. Whenever I have a REAL negative opinion or a beef with somebody, it's crystal clear that I'm not kidding.

Funny, I tried to apologize to Khomp for making him re-type an explaination due to me not reading the thread, and in the process, I pissed 2 OTHER people off, lol. One step forward, 2 steps back...story of my life.

NOW I'M GOING TO AUSTIN FOR 3 DAYS OF MUSIC AND FUN WITH THE DAUGHTER, SO QUIT BUMMING ME OUT!! lol, lmao...BAHAHAHAHA...HEHEHEHEH :D :D :D ;) hehehe eee -bahahahahaha...lolololrotflmfaopimp...hahahahhaa :D :D :D

(indicates joke about bumming me out - no offense intended - I'm working on the clarity thing :D)

That's cool, Chris. I'll be on the river for the next couple days myself.. where only the flow or a bad step can offend me and the only one I can piss off is my younger brother and a few brook trout.. :) Again I'm sorry for the misinterpretation. The first CD will likely be titled The Trouble With ASCII.

Cheers.

Tom

Catching up on some of my listens. I saw this before but could not listen so I'm back. Who could pass up this group of talent? :)

Wow. It has taken me few listens to get into this...I mean that in a good way. I think the music is very cool. I love the kick. Some of the other drum sounds could maybe be worked on but preference for sure. Guitars were very cool. All the soundds and flow. Loved the change.

Lyrics and singing take the cake on this though. It takes very some cool music and throws it way over the top. Loved the different sounds in the vocals. I mean is Tom singing like four different ways in one song? :) Too cool.

Khomp - Good work pulling this together. I think future projects from this group (Slumputer Man? :D) are in order!

Really cool song. Real strong low end without being muddy - very impressive. Great reverb on things. Great tones on everything. Things are played/sung real well.

A few seconds of silence at the begining and end that could probably be edited. The fade in was maybe a little on the slow side.

Little clip at 3:09.

Minor things - easily fixable if desired.

Real good job.

I see the mix issues (and more ;) have already been covered, so I'll just say this is cool stuff. Hopefully you guys have some similar, but heavier stuff in the works.

Straight to the library with this one. Thanks for sharing, gentlemen.

Hey thanks for the feedback guys, i thought for sure that I wouldn't see this thread again after it had been to 2nd page limbo.

Then again I guess we saw a lot of threads we'd never thought we'd see again today.

Thanks Sabbath, Chris, dafduc for your comments earlier. Much appreciated.

skids - thanks for the review, i think i like that name "slumpewtur man" haha, it makes me think of someone slouching over their screen and yeh I would fit that profile.

MMM - I will note those adjustments and get them next time I revamp that song. Thanks for the feedback.

MBrane - Where did you get the time to review this? ;) Thanks for the listen, much appreciated. Heavier huh? Duly noted, may be something along these lines in the future. Mua haha!

I listened, I liked, but it needs drums to finish it off. I know you deliberately didn't put them to get that mood. To me a song without drums is like surfing without a board. I know it's a cliche but they are the anchor and without them the ship starts to wander
