I'm confused? What is the question? I think this is a Tascam 388? We are guessing what your issue is? Is the button physically stuck, or does it seem to work but the ligt stays on? Does it go out when you load a tape properly? Give us a clue?

It's my 388. The button isn't stuck but the light won't go out. There's no tape on it right now
I'll load a tape and see what happens.

Update. Loaded tape. Corrrectly. Light didn't go out. But the Load function works (though I might have to tweak the tension arms a little)
Update to update. I was right. Left tension arm is a little loose.
