Yo! Mix!

My first listen in a while, my friend. (Boy, do I miss this place!) Y'all will def hear from flat- 9 more when gigs calm down! I'm simply gettin' slammed this time of year.

You were at the top of the page.( plus I like & respect you Mix) :D

6 listens so far.... Nice bed on the Roland, esp the organ comping! Personally, I like the bass just fine. Any way you can separate the drums and widen the EQ on them? They are also to perfect and could be 'de-quantized' and 'humanized' w/ the right software.

Banjo is sooooo rich and full!!! Nice mic placement and very hip roundness and warmth result!

Upward glissando @ :34 on keys was perfect! Great entrance...subtle and yet added to the instrumental crescendo beautifully.

I started to get a hard-on w/ the guit solo @ 1:53 but the bango's premature re-entry @ 2:03 ruined it & gave me the 'cold spoon'!
STRETCH THE STRAT SOLO OUT BIGTIME! GIVE IT 12 or 16 bars screw that..... give it 32!!!! , man, not a mere 4 measure stint!

Also.......12 listens looped now, Strings are to slow on the attacks, .....my suggestion would be to go to an agitato or marcato string section if you have it!

Nice job. 5 big ones from flat-9!

Well, what you've gone and done on this one is the sort of thing that I love hearing - you've mixed funk and banjo and added a good chord change or two as well.

LOL It was with *deep* satisfaction that that banjo came back in toward the end. You score lotsa points in my book for this one. You're doing all sorts of things that I can't begin to do.

Fuck there's some interesting music cropping up here these days. I wonder if we're the only people on the planet who know about it. LOL I'm putting together a compilation of interesting stuff from the clinic for my buddy. This one goes on it. Hammond and ethereal chords? Barnyard slap bass? Banjo? Yeah, that'll do nicely. Damn I like the sound on that bass.

Okay, I'm off to dl some more of those banjo tunes. Thanks for this tune.

NOT BAD !!!!

Like I said, I love Banjo.

This tune is nice and clear. Something I can not attain.

Okay, I went and listened to Banjo Ditty - it's good, but nowhere near as good as a mix of joe, both in terms of the sound and playing on the banjo and the arrangement and feel of the song. Banjo Ditty could be some kind of soundtrack, but a mix of joe is *interesting*. Gonna keep exploring this a bit?

OK, here it goes

Good piece, nice groove. The reverb is a little heavy when you are layered in with the guitar etc. It sounds cool on the solo parts but muddies up when the other instruments kick in. The bottom end might come up a bit and you could use a little more kick drum.

It would be really cool to hear a counter melody in fiddle layed in on this.

Nice job. Well played and recorded.

great banjo sound! the drum programming sounds better than your usual.. I like that organ even though it seemed a bit low.. the electric took me a little while to accept but it grew on me.. It sounds like a song that's ready for vocals.. I think the Roland is still holding its own.. nice solo but I wanted it to be dryer.. less delay and more melodic, but your still a better guitar player than me so I'll shut up.. great banjo sound!

I just got a new computer and haven't worked out the bugs yet.. I have been spinning this song for a few days and it was sounding pretty bad until I hooked up the speakers 'properly.' I'm gonna go check out your other tune I missed later on.. I may have to bump it back to the first page... anyway, very cool tune here mix..

--------------> Vocals or more solos..

My very first listen since getting back from Detroit

:D You're having a bunch of fun with that banjo ain'tcha?
This is very cool......the banjo sounds great......that's a very full present sound you have. I wish I could get a guitar to have that much body without getting boomy. The banjo's timing seems to get a little funny every once in a while but it's very slight and you, of course, are just starting to use a banjo so I'm pretty impressed by what you're playing.
I think you might be hitting on something new here. I mean Bela Fleck does some cool stuff but this is different sounding to me and I hope you continue to develop this.

When I saw George Clinton; he had a full time mandolin player believe it or not. maybe the next thing you do, you should funkifize it a little.....that would be interesting.

Good stuff mix, I'd bash it for ya' if I could, but I really like it so what are you gonna do?

What's worse than a banjo?

Banjos!

Kidding!:D

Hey, I used to play bass in a bluegrass band. Yeah it was electric, but it was fretless. Taught me a thing or two about pitch.;)

That Beyer sounds pretty good on the ol' guitdrum. Ribbons are so cool.

Your playing is pretty good too, though a tad inconsistent. That comes with time.

Pretty good mix for phones. You must know them well, and can compensate accordingly. That's really the key to mixing though isn't it? ;)
