I've been doing a lot of audio recording in Cubase SX and have learnt a lot about automation, tracking, effects etc. I think it's time that I dive into the other parts of the program, particularly the MIDI editor.

But, where do I begin? I'd just like to add a simple 4/4 drum loop that I can mess around with ...play along to in with my guitar and start to build a song. So, how should I go about doing this? (I know, read the manual!)...isn't there a way to manually load a midi track that is already done? from there I can manipulate it and fool around.

Thoughts?

yes there is.....get a midi file off the net or something and simply import it itno cubase...there you go...
have fun...try diffeerent stuff....experiment

I'm no huge expert with Cubase, but the way I did this was to download LM9 off of the Steinberg site, then set that up as the output midi instrument, then created the part in Cubase (using the score layout to manipulate and set-out the notes). I then copied and pasted this, then made another for a change of beat etc.

Like I said, I don't know much about Midi - this is the limit of my knowledge. Hope its helped.

thanks guys...I got a drum loop going now. I'm sure I'll be back here for more questions soon. This board is the best that I have found!
