A mic PreAmp idea I am toying with.

Assuming that the tube is actually in the signal path, changing the tube will make a difference. Whether it's 'better' or not will have more to do with your taste in sound than the quality of the tube.

Some people like a certain brand of tube because it is crunchy, some people like a different one because it's smooth. It's not a matter of quality, it's a matter of personal preference.

chewbacaface you might want to check out mshilarious posts before forming such an opinion, he is a champion for budget gear at affordable prices, and he knows his stuff. :)
 
Honestly man, I don't care if he plays kazoos and gut buckets in an outhouse. I just wanted info about preamps, not chuckles or gasps or hmphhhsss. I'm sure there are lots of musical areas of expertise that I could school him in but I wouldn't make my first response to his post one where I start by inferring that I'm laughing at his inexperience with something he was asking for help on. It's as simple as that. I'm here to learn and to help others when I have more experience.
