A Lynx/Delta/Wave/??? -- w/o software, which is best?

I've been looking at the higher end sound cards and following up on reviews where possible.

Without worrying about the software, hardware wise, which is best for 24+bit, 88.1+Khz spoken word or vocal work? The noise thing concerns me about these internal cards.

I hate noise.

I will need to connect an XLR mic in the best way possible to the card, too.

I just ran across the new SoundTrack Audio DSP 24 System III with the ADC III. That sounds like a system to look into. Does anyone know of a review of the system?
