My digital camera is as bad as my MS Paint renderings, but here goes, a scattered look at what I've been doing and hope to do better.

Any treatment advice would be much appreciated.

-Thanks-

*Simple MS Paint floor plan rendering. (Not to any kind of scale)

Here is an overhead layout of the control room.

The numbered rectangles denote either 4” 703 or 2” 703
I could really use some thoughts on bass trap configuration and
placement in this room.

Here is a control room side view.

Any thoughts on treating this shape of room?

View through window reveals this area will be for seated applications like acoustic guitar, percussion maybe, two back up singers in a pinch ect.

Outside of the same booth we see a bit of the control room back wall.

The window affords a view of my board and tape machine’s Vu’s.

Here is the shape (outside) of the same booth.

Just half inch drywall on 2x4 awaiting an additional 5/8’s outer layer of drywall, a box of nice wood flooring and some excellent interior treatment advice.

Here you are maybe in the center of the soon to be someday I hope control room.

As can be seen by the underwhelming amount of gear, it’s more room than control.

The “rack” is actually a modified TV stand and by modified I mean turned on it’s side and painted. It’s crude but effective as I can now effortlessly roll 30 million pounds of recorder out for cable access or to sweep even.

This looks like the poster for flat panel monitor awareness week.

Lots of wall surface to treat here. The natural light lends the room an inviting calm feel during the summer months.

Notice the Roland MC-500?
I believe it relies on the same technology as the model T Ford.

Here you see the back wall of the control room crying for bass traps.

How shall I best treat the boxed in pipe front ,sides and back?
A few foam squares?

And finally (For now) the 1st wall of the drum booth (room in a room) which I hope to continue on this weekend.

I was happy as a clam to score two of these 24 x 50 double paned windows for free.

Getting back to live drum tracks is going to be fun.
(I’ve had Sonors sitting in the boxes brand new in the booth area since like 1991)

Thanks for looking :)

Wow... Looks really good, me and my basement "studio" envy you like it's nobody's business

This looks great! I wish I had more space, but....

Question: I noticed you arranged your console along the longer wall (14'). Do you think it would have made a difference had you placed it along the shorter wall?

I'm starting to work on my room and it is 9'X10' and I also thought about putting my console along the longer wall.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Great job on the studio. Can't wait to see it completed!

Hey thanks for the interest and kind words.

It looks bigger than it is actually, but I just came out of a 9x10 tracking, mixing, sleeping, tv bedroom myself, so being able to roll back a chair to stand IS pretty neat, also, having a visually concealed cable "Well" with back of mixer access is something i've dreamt of for a long long time.

I started out with a 4 track in a walk in closet and haven't really
graduated all that much from it.

I'm sorry Earl, but i'm just not qualified to answer that without misleading you, but i'm sure someone here will throw down some know how.

I have seen plenty of posts and diagrams which indicate it IS best to mix down the lenght of the longest wall, but i have a doorway on each side so unless i crammed into a corner less than half the width of the room it'd be hard for me to acheive that optimal layout.

From what i have read, it seems imaging and a uniform flat response will be a compromise laden challenge.

The will to get it recorded will outwit the size or type of room any day.
-Thanks-

i think you space you have is excellent. I don't think you need that much absorbtion in your control room. I've drawn what I'd do with that room. Check it out

Very cool Panda,

I appreciate your time and thoughts on this as inexperience and a tendency to overdo things on my part always seems to bring about debacle.

-Thank you- :)
