Hello
I've Been Writing hip hop material for about 3 years and now I feel like I'm at my peak and want to get recording, I purchased a mixer about 6 months ago and a microphone Mic stand and attempted to set it up to my laptop and record on Adobe audition, but I kept having distortion and crackling noises when I was recording vocals on instrumenals so I gave up untill now would anyone be able to tell me why this happened? I don't know the name of the mixer off hand but I was using a behringer c-1 condencer and the mixer was connected threw the Mic in input and the headphones/output on my laptop any help is much appreciated I'm thinking of changing to a usb mixer aswell would that help

No, you would need to know what you're doing as well to create high quality recordings.. it's not just a matter of plugging things into each other.

You're sending a line level output to a mic level input, hence the crackling.

I Know There's more To it than that but could I just do away with my mixer as the preamps in the mixer are cr*p, btw my mixer is a tapco 220fx..
